Going Green

in LeoFinancelast year (edited)

Technology is evolving, and so is energy being used to power this technology. I’m not one to be an environmentalist who is pushing the fossil fuel or climate change agenda, as many people do in the media today.

Although it’s a good thing to promote less carbon, im not just in support of how many people(especially politicians) are merely using this all to their advantage when we all know what exactly is a possible way out of the loop.

Fossil fuels are still currently powering our devices and at present, they are the main source of energy as they power 80% of everything tech.

But that’s going to change soon

If you’re from a third-world country and don’t have much access to much power supply around you, the only best alternative I’ve seen people utilize is the use of solar energy.

I have even seen some people relying solely on solar energy, and that has made me curious about renewable energy compared to non-renewable sources.

For instance, at the salon where I do cut and shave, I’ve been able to witness my barber buy around 2-3 solar products within 2 years and all I’ve always asked him is if is this sustainable or if it’s just an alternative to him.

He confessed to me that he hasn’t purchased a litre of petrol ever since he’s been accustomed to the use of solar energy. I was kind of sceptical at first as I have also been an avid user of solar energy before, but then some issues like energy storage at night and not being able to utilize it at night gave me a reason not to see it as a better alternative for myself and also for the world moving forward.

But I was wrong, this sector has been able to evolve and improve on their energy storage capacity as that’s the best way to make sure customers are never cut out from power at night.

My experience with it some years back has been able to evolve too after I made a move to give it a chance and see if I can use it as an alternative to the unstable and shitty power supply we have in my neighbourhood.

It wasn’t something I was thinking about at first, but then after the petroleum price in my country has increased, it’s becoming more and more costly to rely on using it as a source of generating power like when using it with generators.

I also thought about getting a power bank to be able to become more active and increase my online presence, which tbh has taken a downturn ever since I got back home.

Nevertheless, I can’t complain, so I decided to go green

I want to see things from my stylist’s perspective because when he was pushing the product to me, I was not that interested, but then with how the world is shaping up and evolving, you’ve got to find yourself leverage against all sorts of downturn either in the economy or energy.

Because if we don’t take it up on ourselves to introduce changes to our lives, no one will. Not even the government who are trying to promote less carbon to their advantage when they are the ones with more carbon print than the average Joe like me.

Imagine someone having more than 20 cars with a private jet telling you that your car is polluting the earth, and you need to go green for some reason.

Their agenda is shaped towards something else because if it’s not, we all know that the only way out of the energy and climate dilemma is to promote and invest in renewable means of generating energy.

In short

I got my first solar product(courtesy of a loan from @ ruta.loans), and I’ve been in love with it so far. I think that I’ll have to agree with my hairstylist that this is where the world is going, in the following decades.

Are you going green, or do you still think climate change is all about using fewer cars and driving less?

Or you are already like me and my hairstylist?

Comments below, do you have any experience with solar energy, and what are your thoughts on renewable sources of energy as the world of technology keeps growing daily?

Until next time
