I finally pulled the trigger on purchasing Affinity Photo yesterday, a photoshop alternative without a subscription model (you simply buy it once and then you own it).
I really like Photoshop and has been a dedicated Photoshop user for years, but this,honestly, is just as good and in some ways even better. And the one-time fee is literally a 4th of what I pay ANNUALLY for the adobe equivalent..

GIMP? Yeah that's also a decent one that I've also used quite a bit. This one's another level though. But of course it depends on your needs
