People will fall into one of these two categories, either a consumer or a creator. The ones that consume are spenders while those who create are wealth creators. Now note I do not say creators are savers as consumers can also save.
Consumers
We all have heard the old saying, "life is too short, enjoy it." The enjoying part is where people may interpret it differently. Some people may think in order to enjoy life they want to travel on an extravagant vacation to far corners of the earth.
This type of person is consuming when they go on vacation. In not as extreme examples people who watch movies or go out shopping in malls are consumers. Short end of this is anyone who is spending to not be productive technically is a consumer.
Creators
On the opposite end of the spectrum there are people who spend their time in the office or at their work place creating goods and services. These type of people are creators.
In an even more extreme example people who manufacturer products whether durable or non-durable goods and then going on to sell those products are contributing to the economy.
Good or Bad?
The reality is in order for there to be consumers there would be creators and vise versa. If you think about it everyone only creators than there would be no value on what they create as there is no demand for it. On the flip side people only consume there would be limited consumption as the supply of goods are limited.
In order to be wealthy people those people tend to be creators. This is because they are able to create some form of good that can be traded for money. The real difference then here is not consumer versus creator but poor versus rich.
Not Easy To Create
I end on the fact that most people on the planet are not wealthy. There can be many reasons as to why this is the case but the bottom line is they consume more than they create. In order to make the right first steps one has to limit and control their consumption. Meanwhile to accelerate their wealth growth they need to solve other people's problems. Solving problems equates to creating wealth.
Which do you feel like you do more of? Create or consume?
