I don't see it as a dead career as there are still bloggers creating and earning from it. I think where there may be a problem is the particular niche or style of creating blogs and the creativity. There has to be an audience consuming the content and people are drawn toward blogs that keep them hooked not just with the written content but also visuals.

Always a place for written content. As great as video is, it's not always suitable and has been around for a while anyway. Adaptation is the key.

I agree blogging is not 'dead' but it has shrinken much comaring to its golden days.
