Only 80 rep and above can add links in the main thread. If this is what you are doing, then that's why. Instead put the description in the mother thread and reply with the link and it will work.
So people aren't just spamming links and running. This requires some effort to be put into it and forcing users to add a decent description if they want users to open the thread
People share links on Twitter too, but they don't restrict that way rather they limit the amount of tweets made per day. Absurd, there should not be a such a restriction on links.
If you shared the links directly into your first thread, they're being muted to avoid link spamming (not that you are doing it, it's just how it works at the moment)
If you want to share links you have to do so as a reply 2 your 1st thread
