When you're making your favourite sandwich, it’s easy to go big on the fillings without considering how you’ll tackle biting into it. Instead, think carefully about what flavors and ingredients you want to come through the most, and build your sandwich from there. If you do want a big mountain of a lunch, prevent foods from sliding out by layering slippery ingredients (such as avocado, cucumber and tomato) between ‘stable’ items like leafy greens, cream cheese and peanut butter. And always have a napkin on hand, just in case of any overflow!
How many times have you taken a bite of a sandwich, only for the contents to start falling out? To prevent this from happening, layer your sandwich with the heaviest ingredients at the bottom and the lightest ingredients at the top. Start with the heavy proteins (such as slices of chicken breast or roast beef), then add on your cheese and vegetables, followed by a flavor-packed sauce. We can’t promise that a rogue tomato slice won’t escape, but it’ll definitely help to balance things out.

Nobody likes a soggy sandwich. To limit vegetable juice seepage, put sliced tomato, washed lettuce or cucumber between two pieces of kitchen roll for five minutes before adding them to a sandwich – this will help to get rid of excess moisture. It’s also a good idea to spread some sort of fat, such as butter, cheese or mayo, directly onto the bread first; it'll act as a barrier against soggier ingredients.

It's worth remembering that not all cheeses will work in a cheese toastie – you need to pick types with the ultimate ooze factor. So, wave goodbye to crumbly cheeses like feta, and ones that don’t melt well, such as halloumi. Instead, swap them for hard cheeses like Cheddar or Monterey Jack; processed cheeses like American cheese; or even young cheeses like gooey mozzarella.

Eager to avoid flattening your bread as you slice through it? The answer is simple: rather than cutting through the bread's crusty top, turn your loaf upside down and slice through its soft underbelly instead. That way, you won't squash the bread down when cutting yourself a slice.

If you’re making sandwiches ahead of time, it’s best to avoid adding the sauces too early – otherwise, you could be left with a soggy mess. Instead, put your condiment of choice into a mini bottle and stash it in your lunch box, or have a selection of sauce sachets on hand to use as and when required.

Did you know that some breads are better suited to certain sandwich fillings? Flavored breads such as rye or pumpernickel need a full-flavored filling like cured meat or strong cheese; chewy bagels and English muffins are perfect with breakfast items like eggs, bacon and smoked salmon; sliced white or wholemeal bread is best for mild cheese and meat fillings, or peanut butter and jelly; and sturdy flatbreads and wraps can be stuffed with denser ingredients (think meat and rice burritos, and couscous and roasted vegetable pittas).

Most of us cut our sandwiches widthways, forming two rectangles. However, diagonal sandwiches are not only more attractive visually, but their points are better for dipping into sauces, soups and other condiments. Plus, diagonal sandwiches offer a larger crustless bite area. It’s simple maths, really!

Love a BLT, but loathe when the bacon flies out of the sides before you’ve even taken a bite? Here's an easy fix. Take strips of streaky bacon, weave them into a lattice, then bake or grill them to your desired level of crispiness. Place the lattice on bread topped with a bed of leaves, then add mayonnaise and tomato before diving in.

We all have a favorite sandwich we come back to time and time again, but sometimes mixing things up can make a welcome change. Every country – and even region – has a sandwich that’s carb-loaded, flavor-packed and, most importantly, delicious. Go outside your comfort zone and try making Germany’s fischbrötchen, featuring herring, onions, pickles and horseradish, or get creative with an Indian-style vada pav: a fragrantly spiced potato fritter in a soft roll.

Just like a good pasta sauce needs seasoning when you cook, a sandwich will really benefit from a touch of salt and pepper. It’s one of the easiest ways to take your bready bite up a notch; we'd recommend adding a generous sprinkle on top of veggies like sliced tomato, avocado and cucumber before you tuck in.

Starting off with bread that’s too toasted is never going to result in a stellar sandwich. If you’re making a club sandwich (or simply looking to add some extra crunch to the sandwich of your choice) but don’t want your creation to turn into a dried-out stack, toast two slices of bread in one toaster slot. One side of the bread will become deliciously toasty, while the other side will stay nice and soft. Top tip: serve your sandwich while it’s still warm for the tastiest results.

There’s nothing worse than splurging on freshly cut slices of deli meat, flavorful cheeses and heirloom tomatoes, only for your sandwich to end up with no crunch. For a well-balanced sandwich, make sure to experiment with textures, adding ingredients that’ll complement your protein of choice. From crinkle-cut gherkins and crispy onions to layers of salty crisps, there are plenty of tasty possibilities.

Swap slices of bread for tortillas, and you'll discover a whole new world of sandwich possibilities. However, you’ll want to make sure you prepare your wraps beforehand to prevent any cracking or rips. To stop a tortilla from falling apart, simply warm it up in a microwave (or place it in a hot pan for a few seconds), turning halfway so both sides are heated through. Add the filling and assemble quickly – the heat will help the wrap to stick together more easily.

Tired of finding dry, slightly stale sandwiches in your lunch box? This is the hack for you. When preparing your sandwiches for the next day, put them in an airtight container, cover them with baking paper, then place a damp piece of kitchen roll on top before closing the lid. Keep your sandwiches in the fridge until two hours or so before you're planning to consume them. You’ll never have a bad work lunch again!

Whether you’re assembling an at-home afternoon tea or you just fancy stepping up your packed lunch game, consider neatening up your sandwiches; the overall presentation will improve in an instant. If you're using deli meat slices, here's an easy trick: fold a slice in half, then in half again to make a quarter circle, then place the meat's point in the corner of your buttered bread. Repeat until the bread is covered (two or four pieces of meat should be enough). Cutting other ingredients like lettuce or cheese to size will also help to keep your sandwiches nice and tidy.

Mayo may be delicious – but if you want a healthier alternative (or you’re simply looking to cut down on calories), swap to low-fat Greek yogurt, which has the same creamy consistency. Want to add some extra greens and goodness to your diet? Make a simple avocado or pea mash flavored with salt, lemon juice and fresh mint.
#foodtalk #sandwich #foodhacks #food #sandwichhacks
Want to prevent meatballs from flying out of your sub, or stop leafy lettuce from tumbling from your baguette? Slice your bread lengthways as usual, but only cut three-quarters of the way through. This way you can still fill your sandwich to your heart's content – but without any messy consequences.
#foodtalk #sandwich #foodhacks #food #sandwichhacks
Toasted sandwiches are usually slathered with butter on the outside – meaning the bread turns a mouth-watering golden brown when cooked. However, if you fancy changing it up (and adding a deliciously tangy flavor while you're at it), swap to mayonnaise instead. Using mayo will also help to speed up the cooking process, as it has a higher smoke point than butter.

Preparation is key when it comes to creating a great packed lunch sandwich. If you don't have time to make sandwiches every morning, prepare a week’s worth of sandwiches on a Sunday evening, then freeze them in plastic bags or cling film. All you need to do is take one out of the freezer each morning; by lunchtime, the sandwich will have thawed.

Sometimes, it’s the simplest of things that make all the difference for picky eaters. So, whether you're struggling to get your little one to eat their packed lunch or you're simply looking for a cute idea for an upcoming birthday party, it's worth digging out those cookie cutters you have stuffed in your kitchen drawers. That way, you can create unique sandwich designs in all sorts of shapes and sizes, from gingerbread men–style bites to star-shaped creations.

Peanut butter and jelly may have a savory-sweet thing going on – but other than that, most sandwiches are usually loaded with purely savory fillings. We say switch things up; there's a whole host of deliciously sweet breakfast sandwiches you can make, from apple pie paninis and Nutella and banana creations to Japanese-inspired fruit and cream sandos.
#foodtalk #sandwich #foodhacks #food #sandwichhacks
The best thing about making a big batch of food is often the leftovers – and luckily for sandwich lovers, pretty much anything can be slotted between two slices of bread. Leftover mac ‘n’ cheese? Use it to make a sumptuous cheese toastie. Excess fajita mix? Layer it up in a sandwich with salsa and sour cream. Surplus meatballs? Create the ultimate sub. The possibilities are practically endless.

Serving a sandwich to children? Your best chance of getting them to tuck in is by removing the crusts. But don't reach for the bread knife; use a pizza cutter instead. A real time-saver, this nifty tool will allow you to remove the crusts quickly, without too much of the filling oozing out – whether you're making a melty cheese toastie or a classic jelly sandwich.

There’s nothing quite like sinking your teeth into a really well-made sandwich. But are you making the most of the creations you’re eating at home? Here, we look at the most common mistakes people make when assembling sandwiches – from soggy, sauce-slathered bread to excessive ingredients – and reveal our top tips for achieving a perfectly balanced bite.
Read on as we reveal frequent sandwich slip-ups most people make every day, counting down to the most common of all.
Bubble, bubble, braise, and simmer; we found the best dutch ovens for every type of witches
The cauldron of the kitchen, a good Dutch oven is the best vessel for conjuring all sorts of practical magic (read: soup). Designed for maximum heat retention and long, slow cooking, a Dutch oven is a versatile kitchen essential for the stove-top and oven. Pretty much any time a recipe calls for a ‘heavy-bottomed pot,’ a Dutch oven will do the job. Not only are they ideal for braising and roasting, they’re also great for baked pasta and even deep frying.
I’ve amassed a small, prized collection of Dutch ovens over years of experience in professional kitchens and as a daily home cook for my family of four, and each one serves a special purpose, from baking no-knead bread to cooking up black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day to braising a proper coq au vin. I put these cooking vessels to the test over months, sometimes decades, of regular use; these are the ones that stood up to every challenge.
A beloved culinary heirloom, Le Creuset makes the gold standard of Dutch ovens. I’m still using the one I borrowed from my parents’ kitchen 20 years ago, after who knows how many years of it being used to make our family’s beef stroganoff and day-long bolognese. The enameled interior shows a few signs of wear from over the years, but it only adds to the pot’s vintage charm.
Le Creuset’s lids are designed with raised bumps that function as condensation points, creating what Le Creuset calls a ‘self-basting’ effect, which makes it sounds more like a turkey than what it is — a clever way to keep moisture locked in and moving around so that food cooked in the Dutch ovens stays tender and juicy. It’s also one of the lighter-weight enameled cast iron Dutch ovens on the market, at 9.6 pounds, which is a nice feature if not a huge concern for me, personally. Cleaning the enameled cast iron is easy, but according to Le Creuset, the Dutch oven is dishwasher safe, though I would never. (For any stuck-on spots, I bring a little water and baking soda to a simmer and then go at it with a dish wand.)
Pros: Timeless, classic quality; enameled cast iron is quick to heat and able to produce a nice, even sear
Cons: The nearly $400 price point makes this a considerable investment.
One of my favorite things about the weather getting cooler is how often I get to use my Dutch ovens. I have a huge one that was a wedding present and a slightly smaller one that I added to my collection later. Nothing braises stews or melds the flavors of a soup quite like a Dutch oven, which distributes heat evenly and does a pretty good job of keeping foods from burning. But not always!
I've burnt food in my Dutch oven more than once, and it's a pain to get it cleaned up. Anticipating that it would happen again, I recently decided to try America's Test Kitchen's brilliant burnt Dutch oven cleaning trick. It's the best kind of hack because it's nearly hands-off, and doesn't use any special products.
To test the method out, I burned some food in the Dutch oven (on purpose). I put a bit of leftover finely diced onions and bell peppers in the Dutch oven along with some oil, flour, and sugar, which I knew would scorch and really put the method to the test!
So, did it work? The boiling water did a great job of loosening and dislodging some of the mess, and the wooden spoon easily scraped up a good portion of it. But, unfortunately, there wasn't any further flaking, even after I let the Dutch oven dry. I repeated the boil and scrape process again, and got a bit more up, but a stubborn portion of the burnt sugar remained on the bottom of the Dutch oven.
At this point, I decided to use some Bar Keepers Friend and elbow grease, but even that didn't get all the burnt residue off. I added some water to the Dutch oven and let it soak overnight - the next morning, my husband scoured the rest of the residue off.
My takeaway is this: I think I was a bit overzealous in creating my "burnt residue" for my little experiment; burnt sugar is notoriously difficult to remove! (And, honestly, the hack made a big dent even with my unrealistic concoction.) The burnt Dutch oven hack clearly is effective, and is easy to do while cleaning up the rest of the kitchen - just not with burnt sugar. It's the best kind of time- and energy-saving tip, and I'm definitely going to be putting it to good use often.
Slivered onions have been identified as the problematic ingredient
After making headlines following presidential candidate and former president Donald Trump’s stunt cosplaying as a service worker, McDonald’s is back in the news again, this time for an even bleaker reason: The CDC is investigating an E. coli outbreak linked to the company’s Quarter Pounders.
The CDC now reports 75 cases in 13 states, including one death and 22 hospitalizations, that have been linked to McDonald’s. (That’s up from the initially reported 49 cases in 10 states.) Most of these cases have been in Colorado and Nebraska, with their neighboring states also affected. And on October 23, a Colorado man who tested positive for E. coli after purchasing food at a McDonald’s filed a lawsuit against the company alleging product liability, negligence, and breach of implied warranties.
The outbreak has been linked to the Quarter Pounder specifically, with initial speculation that the cause was either the fresh slivered onions (which are primarily used on Quarter Pounders) or the quarter-pound beef patties. (A departure from its other burgers, McDonald’s launched fresh beef for the Quarter Pounder, as opposed to frozen, in 2018.)
In an official statement, McDonald’s speculated that the issue lies with the slivered onions, which are sourced from a single supplier that serves three distribution centers. The Colorado-based Taylor Farms, which supplied the onions, has since issued a recall of its yellow onions. The distributors Sysco and US Foods have both notified their customers to stop using onions from Taylor Farms, which are also sold under the name Cross Valley Farms, Restaurant Business reported. Some Burger King, Denny’s, KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut locations have also pulled onions from the menu.
Agua Mágica wants to change how mezcal production is valued
It takes seven or eight years for an espadín agave plant to mature to the point at which Rogelio Juan Hernández, maestro mezcalero and co-founder of Agua Mágica, can use it to make mezcal. For four generations, his family has made mezcal in the region of San Juan del Río in Oaxaca, Mexico. “It’s an ancestral experience,” Hernández says.
The process is laborious and time-intensive. Once the agave plants have matured, the heart of the plant, known as the piña, is harvested and then roasted over firewood; a covering of river rocks and banana tree husks helps trap in the heat. After 24 hours of cooking, the agave turns sweet and honey-like. Once it’s cooled, a mule rolling around a tahona, a large stone wheel, crushes the agave so that the fibers and the sugars can separate. These juices ferment and then the distillation process begins. It’s the second distillation that creates Agua Mágica’s mezcal.
Despite having made mezcal since he was a teenager, Hernández, who always wanted his own distillery, had to leave Mexico for the United States for 18 years because opportunities were scarce. Agua Mágica, which launched in 2021 with co-founder and CEO Rafael Shin, wants to change how mezcal is valued, paying mezcaleros like Hernández higher prices for the higher quality of their product, as opposed to the current system of pricing regardless of quality.
My grandmother used the leftover rice to make sweet croquettes for snacks. She put egg, flour and sugar with the rice, stirred and served in boiling oil.
Best mental health advice I received when I was struggling was from my dad, he advised to take a day off completely from all mental stimulation - no screens, no reading, no exerting mental effort, instead either go for a walk out in nature, or sleep. It helped immensely in just a single day.

Thanks! I see a lot of threadcast in here and wants to start my own but I feel that all topics are already covered so why not start random threadcast!?
I have used for a few things but I can't seem to just dive in and learn in a creative way. I need tasks to complete. So I don't really experience its power.
I believe the magic combo is energy + time + awareness. If you have two of the three you can get pretty far. If you have all three then I believe your progress will be exceptional.

Since February I've literally been living out of a suitcase. I have had places off and on, from hotel rooms to small cabins on a lake, but haven't had a home to call my own for almost a year.
That ends this week, after we will finally be closing on our new home. Grateful!!
I've seen some huge comebacks happen in sports but the Yankees are coming dangerously close to going down 3-0 in this series and they will have to win four in a row with the last two games being in Los Angeles. That will be a tough nut to crack even for the mighty Yankees. Homers alone will not win it all and why they haven't won the World Championship in years. Still more by miles over everyone else in the history of the game but it's been years since the last one.
There is still time to come back in this one and if anyone can do it then it would be them with those monsters Judge, Stanton and Soto but they will need the rest of the squad to step it up ASAP.
Uche, 26, has two sacks in six games this season and 20.5 sacks in his career.
Uche re-signed with the Patriots as a free agent before the season on a one-year, $3 million contract. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
It's the second impact trade made by the Chiefs (7-0), who acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in a deal with the Tennessee Titans last week.
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones took all the first-team reps at practice this week and is not expected to be on a short leash Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers despite getting pulled in the fourth quarter last week, multiple sources told ESPN.
Jones went to the bench in a 28-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and was replaced by backup Drew Lock. Coach Brian Daboll said he was looking for a "spark." It didn't happen. Lock went 3-of-8 passing for 6 yards.
A handful of Giants players told ESPN this week they weren't pushing for a permanent change at quarterback entering the Monday night matchup. Jones is their starter. Several players did note that it might be different if Tyrod Taylor were still on the roster. He's not. It's still Jones' team.
Taylor was the backup each of the past two seasons. He signed with the New York Jets this offseason.
It has been a struggle for Jones and the 2-5 Giants, especially at home. They've scored just one offensive touchdown in four home games. Jones has six touchdown passes and four interceptions in seven starts this season. New York has the 31st-ranked scoring offense averaging 14.1 points per game entering Monday night.
Jones was not happy with the situation after the Oct. 20 loss and throughout this week. He's trying not to think what happen if he struggles on Monday night or moving forward.
Golfer Tom Kim apologized Monday for damaging a locker door following his playoff loss to Byeong Hun An in the DP World Tour's Genesis Championship in his native South Korea.
In a statement posted to his Instagram account, Kim said that he didn't intend to damage the door Sunday and that he offered to pay for its repair. Kim said he apologized to the DP World Tour and the Korean PGA Tour, which co-sanctioned the tournament held at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon.
Penn State coach James Franklin said Monday that quarterback Drew Allar's status for fourth-ranked Ohio State could be a game-time decision.
Allar suffered a left knee injury late in the first half of Saturday's 28-13 win at Wisconsin. Allar tried to play to begin the second half, but after warming up he told Franklin that he didn't think he could be effective enough playing through the injury.
Sophomore backup Beau Pribula replaced Allar in the second half and completed 11 of 13 passes with a touchdown.
Franklin said that Allar and Pribula could both get snaps in Tuesday's practice but that the team would wait until Saturday before making a starting quarterback decision.
"That timeline will go all the way up to the game," Franklin said.
Allar ranks 10th nationally with a QBR of 83.6. He has completed 71.3% of his passes for 1,640 yards and totaled 15 touchdowns with four interceptions.
The third-ranked Nittany Lions (7-0) have lost seven straight games to the Buckeyes.
News of his dismissal may therefore not have come as a shock to fans, and hours after the announcement Keane gave fans his views, albeit in slightly bizarre circumstances
In a post on Instagram, where Keane's out in the countryside with his hood on his coat over him, the club legend said: "In good teams, coaches hold players accountable. In great teams, players hold players accountable."
Frank Warren insists Tyson Fury could meet Oleksandr Usyk in a trilogy, breaking a remarkable heavyweight record.
Fury is set to rematch Usyk on December 21 for the chance to avenge his first career defeat, after he was outpointed by the Ukrainian in their undisputed clash in May.
The 'Gypsy King' revealed this week that he intends to pursue a third meeting if he levels the playing field with a win, a trilogy which would be his third as a heavyweight.
He would become the only blue-riband competitor to have fought in three trilogies with a world title involved in each, given his previous sagas with Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder.
He said: "I'm sure Tyson said that himself and that is exactly what it will be and what can happen.
"And I do believe he will beat him [to set up the trilogy]. I go back to that first fight with Deontay Wilder which I believed he won but was scored a draw.
Entering Sunday's AFC West grudge match, Mahomes had a .792 winning percentage [95-25 (80-22 in regular season, 15-3 in postseason)] as a starting quarterback in his first eight NFL seasons.
With the victory, Mahomes (81 wins) surpassed Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning (80 wins) and Ben Roethlisberger (80) for the third-most regular-season wins by a starting quarterback in his first eight seasons in NFL history.
Only Tom Brady (86 wins) and Russell Wilson (86) have more.
Mahomes (96 wins) also surpassed Steelers star Wilson (95 wins) for the second-most wins, including postseason, by a starting quarterback in his first eight seasons in NFL history.
With 59 seconds left in the game down and down by five points, the Ravens had three attempts to find the end zone but ultimately failed to come up with the go-ahead score.
Cleveland was able to close out the game and pull off the improbable victory -- just their second of the season as they improved to 2-6.
On the New Heights podcast, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes explains how he got drafted by the team.
The Kansas City Chiefs trading up to select Patrick Mahomes back in the 2017 NFL Draft is arguably the best decision in franchise history, as the move finally landed the team an all-world quarterback it had been needing for decades. Stories about how current general manager Brett Veach played a critical role in the picking of Mahomes are well known, but Mahomes recently shed some brand-new light on the process as well.
On a new episode of the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, Mahomes joined his Chiefs teammate and the Philadelphia Eagles' star offensive lineman to discuss a multitude of topics. Among them was how Mahomes ended up in Kansas City and, as it turns out, there was an unsung hero who helped make the union happen. Quarterbacks coach Matt Nagy gave Mahomes the answers to Andy Reid's pre-draft visit test, and Mahomes explained the entire thing in full.
"The first day that I met coach Reid was at the facility — we have the meetings, the top-30 visits," Mahomes said. "That was the first time I really met him. At that time, there was no time limit, so I was in there for like five hours. He's just going through plays. I'm going to just give you all the inside scoop. Matt Nagy, who's our quarterbacks coach now, was our offensive coordinator then. He really liked me, so he gave me the plays they were going to go over the night before. So coach Reid's finding out here live on the New Heights podcast.
"So, of course, I crushed the meeting. I stayed up all night studying those plays. The rest was history, man. I met coach Reid, he went over the plays, we went and had some lunch. He had a couple of cheeseburgers and then we went back and I looked back on the board and I had seen that I was a guru, in a sense, because I knew every single play and every check."
Those top-30 visits, of course, don't guarantee that a team is dead-set on a player. Oftentimes, they're used to complete scouting profiles or help decide where (or whether) a player should slot in on that respective club's draft board. In Mahomes's case, however, that initial meeting with Reid all but ensured that Kansas City was thoroughly impressed with the former Texas Tech standout. With some assistance from Nagy, Mahomes made a tremendous first impression.
Once Mahomes had endeared himself to the Chiefs organization, the next step was for Kansas City to figure out how to get him in the draft. The feeling of interest was mutual, but Mahomes admitted on the podcast that other teams were also fans of his and were considering adding him into the fold early on. In the days and weeks before the draft, Mahomes went from feeling that he'd be a late first-round pick to a potential top-half selection. That ended up being the case, although Mahomes and his camp played a notable role in making the trade-up from pick No. 27 to 10 happen. The rest is history.
"I kind of gave a little inside info to the Chiefs and was like 'Hey, if y'all let me go 12 or below, I'm going to get drafted by someone else.' So I gave the Chiefs a little bit of info on that because I wanted to be here. I don't know who was at 12 that time, but I knew right around there was where I was going to get drafted. My agent talked to Brett Veach and the Chiefs' staff. I remember at about pick nine or 10, Veach sent my agent a little picture of a Red Raider with the 'Guns Up,' so I knew the Chiefs were drafting me."
Jameis Winston's first ever start for the Cleveland Browns was an instant classic.
Winston, starting because of Deshaun Watson's Achilles tear, orchestrated an incredible second-half comeback against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, throwing for 334 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions in a 29-24 win -- one of the biggest upsets of the NFL season so far.
The Browns trailed Baltimore 23-24 in the AFC North slug fest with just over a minute to go in the fourth quarter.
The Ravens, who entered Sunday in sole possession of first place in the division, held a one-point lead after running back Derrick Henry's 2-yard run and Justin Tucker's point-after kick.
The Browns then started on their own 31, and Winston connected with wide receiver Cedric Tillman on a 2nd-and-15 for a 38-yard TD, Tillman's second score of the day.
After realising it had gone missing in transit during his journey from Manchester to Belfast, Saengkham pleaded for help from his peers, which initially fell on deaf ears.
His failure to secure a replacement cue left his first-round match against Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in serious doubt, until one star came to his rescue.
Cue the emergence of triple crown-winning great Shaun Murphy, who came up trumps for Saengkham with time running out.
Of course Travis Kelce's first touchdown of the season came on National Tight Ends Day.
The score came when Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes found Kelce in the end zone on a third and goal with just under two minutes to go in the second quarter of Kansas City's 27-20 win against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
Incredibly, it was the three-time Super Bowl's first TD of the season. Rather aptly, it came against a bitter division rival on the day the NFL celebrates the game's tight end position.
Kelce became just the fifth tight end in NFL history to hit 75 receiving touchdowns and moved solely into fifth place for career TDs by a tight end, breaking a tie with Jason Witten.
He finished the game with 90 yards on ten receptions for one touchdown.
Kelce loves playing against the Raiders and continued to haunt them throughout the first half.
After catching a pass from Mahomes, who set his own history on Sunday, on a second and two in the second quarter, Kelce took the outright lead for most receptions all-time against the Raiders.
It gave him 115 receptions against the Black & Silver all-time, one more than fellow TE and franchise legend Tony Gonzalez.
Antonio Gates (111) and Keenan Allen (106) are third and fourth on the list respectively for most receptions against Las Vegas.
The Sunday Night Football cameras will be at Levi's Stadium as an injury-hit 49ers play host to the Cowboys and neither team have a winning record - a far cry from the NFC Championship rivalry games of the 1990s.
The teams won eight of their 10 Super Bowls in the 80s and 90s, but both teams Lombardi trophy will be 30 years or more when this season's champion is crowned in New Orleans.
The Cowboys last win was in 1995, while the 49ers came one year earlier in 1994.
While the title drought for both goes on, the 49ers have been serious contenders with two trips to the Super Bowl as NFC champions in the last five seasons, and two more appearance's in the Conference Championship.
The Cowboys have not been back in the Championship round since 1995.

Earning over $10million in his career, Clark could have been set for life.
But in 1992 - in the middle of a three-year $8.7million contract with the Boston Red Sox - he ended up filing for bankruptcy in 1992 with $6.7million debts.
The batter's love for fast cars was behind his financial struggles.
Clark set up his own drag-racing business, which he lost along with a $2.4million California mansion.
His outrageous car collection also had to go.
According to Sports Illustrated, a $700,000 1990 Ferrari F-40 was the highlight of a fleet of 18, which also included a 1989 Ferrari Mondial, and 1992 Mercedes 500 SL Coupe - each worth over $100,000.
"This shows everybody what can happen to you if you don't manage your money well," Clark said at the time. "I did it to myself."

that's awesome, good for you. I've been considering the same for a bit too long.. May I ask which phone model and which OS you're running? And for how long?
Both are actually very convenient. There was an adjustment with Linux, but I use almost everything from a web browser, so there wasn't much change.
Graphene was a much smaller adjustment. Just install as many private and open-source app equivalents as you can, and all the spyware apps you're used to go in a separate sandboxed profile. Works just like Android then.
Do you need to go through the foundation website to claim the drop? I did wallet verification before they restricted US access, but I'm assuming I can't claim because of where I am.

24 Super Sandwich Hacks You Need To Try

The Best Cauldrons — er, Dutch Ovens — for Soup Season, Tested
#food #cooking #dutchoven
I’ve amassed a small, prized collection of Dutch ovens over years of experience in professional kitchens and as a daily home cook for my family of four, and each one serves a special purpose, from baking no-knead bread to cooking up black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day to braising a proper coq au vin. I put these cooking vessels to the test over months, sometimes decades, of regular use; these are the ones that stood up to every challenge.
Le Creuset 4.5 Quart Signature Round Dutch Oven
$390

I Tried This "Brilliant" (and Totally Free!) Trick for Cleaning My Burnt Dutch Oven, and It Saved Me So Much Time
One of my favorite things about the weather getting cooler is how often I get to use my Dutch ovens. I have a huge one that was a wedding present and a slightly smaller one that I added to my collection later. Nothing braises stews or melds the flavors of a soup quite like a Dutch oven, which distributes heat evenly and does a pretty good job of keeping foods from burning. But not always!
#dutchoven #cleaning #food #cooking
I've burnt food in my Dutch oven more than once, and it's a pain to get it cleaned up. Anticipating that it would happen again, I recently decided to try America's Test Kitchen's brilliant burnt Dutch oven cleaning trick. It's the best kind of hack because it's nearly hands-off, and doesn't use any special products.
McDonald’s Quarter Pounders Sicken Dozens in E. coli Outbreak
#mcdonalds #ecoli #newsonleo #fastfood

This Mezcal Company Is Drawing on Four Generations of Ancestral Methods

When they were golden brown she turned them over and we ate them with milk or chocolate. At home, every leftover was a new recipe.
Best mental health advice I received when I was struggling was from my dad, he advised to take a day off completely from all mental stimulation - no screens, no reading, no exerting mental effort, instead either go for a walk out in nature, or sleep. It helped immensely in just a single day.
That's good advice
Not just good, more importantly - effective!
Turns out - 'Touch grass' - is not that bad of an advice. It's just wisdom condensed into a meme..

i find it so funny that i can fire up Teams & contact anyone in the company in 2 seconds... yet if i shoot a message to IT, they tell me to submit a ticket via email.
why.
And when you submit a ticket they ask if you have turned your computer off and back on.
most of the time, yes
I think it's the lack of organization and always in their own way and they don't put themselves in the customers' shoes.

I’m a firm believer that if you put time and energy into getting better at something, you will actually get better.
Focused energy, that is.
I've seen people who have been doing the same thing for many years, but never got any better at it.
I have learnt to put all my best in what ever am doing 🤔🤔🤔..
Thats why am careful in chosing what I do, because if it's bad thing, am must do it to the fullest...
Lol
But is best to do what good and let it count better result for you...
I believe the magic combo is energy + time + awareness. If you have two of the three you can get pretty far. If you have all three then I believe your progress will be exceptional.

Botafogo

Chiefs bolster pass rush, trade for Patriots' Joshua Uche
The Kansas City Chiefs acquired pass rusher Joshua Uche in a trade with the New England Patriots, coach Andy Reid confirmed Monday.
The Patriots received a 2026 sixth-round pick in the trade, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Uche was a healthy scratch for the Patriots' 25-22 victory over the New York Jets amid trade interest for the fifth-year outside linebacker.
#football #nfl #patriots #chiefs #trade #sports
Uche, 26, has two sacks in six games this season and 20.5 sacks in his career.
Uche re-signed with the Patriots as a free agent before the season on a one-year, $3 million contract. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
It's the second impact trade made by the Chiefs (7-0), who acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in a deal with the Tennessee Titans last week.

Sources: Giants QB Daniel Jones not on short leash vs. Steelers
#football #nfl #sports #danieljones
Tom Kim apologizes for damaging locker door after loss in playoff
Golfer Tom Kim apologized Monday for damaging a locker door following his playoff loss to Byeong Hun An in the DP World Tour's Genesis Championship in his native South Korea.
In a statement posted to his Instagram account, Kim said that he didn't intend to damage the door Sunday and that he offered to pay for its repair. Kim said he apologized to the DP World Tour and the Korean PGA Tour, which co-sanctioned the tournament held at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon.

Penn State QB Drew Allar could be game-time call vs. Buckeyes
#pennstate #football #nfl #drewallar #ncaa
Roy Keane gives 14-word verdict in bizarre Instagram post after Manchester United sack Erik ten Hag
Roy Keane delivered a seemingly cryptic message on Instagram just hours after Manchester United sacked Erik ten Hag.
The Premier League giants announced on Monday morning that the Dutchman has left the club after a little over two seasons in charge.
#roykeane #manchesterunited #football #epl
Ten Hag's exit came the day after United suffered a fourth Premier League defeat of the campaign in a 2-1 loss away at West Ham.
Ruud van Nistelrooy was previously his assistant but has now been placed in interim charge of his former club.
Speculation over Ten Hag's future at Old Trafford had been rife for months despite him extending his contract to 2026 in the summer.
Vasco
Frank Warren backs Tyson Fury’s attempt to become first heavyweight to break unique record with Oleksandr Usyk plan
#frankwarren #tysonfurry #boxing #sports
Patrick Mahomes passes Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger on QB list with Raiders win and has Tom Brady in sight
Patrick Mahomes continues to build upon his Hall of Fame worthy career.
'Showtime' moved to 11-2 all-time against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, throwing for 262 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in a 27-20 win.
#nfl #patickmahomes #peytonmanning #benroethlisberger #sports
Patrick Mahomes Details How He Got Drafted by KC Chiefs - Sports Illustrated Kansas City Chiefs News, Analysis and More
On the New Heights podcast, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes explains how he got drafted by the team.
#patrickmahomes #chiefs #nfl #sports

Jameis Winston proves he’s answer to Browns’ $230m quarterback problem with stunning performance vs Ravens as Lamar Jackson makes history

Snooker player saved by former world champion after arriving at tournament without cue
Snooker star Noppon Saengkham had his blushes spared shortly before his opening match at Northern Ireland Open.
The Thai player bizarrely arrived at the tournament without the most vital piece of kit – his cue.
#snooker #sports #saengkham
After realising it had gone missing in transit during his journey from Manchester to Belfast, Saengkham pleaded for help from his peers, which initially fell on deaf ears.
His failure to secure a replacement cue left his first-round match against Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in serious doubt, until one star came to his rescue.
Cue the emergence of triple crown-winning great Shaun Murphy, who came up trumps for Saengkham with time running out.
The 32-year-old paid an immediate debt of gratitude to Murphy before going on to win his opener 4-3.
"I have to really thank Shaun because I asked a few other players, but they couldn't lend me a cue because they were practicing," said Saengkham.
"Then I saw Shaun and he gave me his cue this morning.”
Murphy later revealed that his act of kindness came at the expense of his own match preparations.
Travis Kelce celebrates National Tight Ends Day by continuing to haunt Raiders and setting NFL record
#traviskelce #nationaltightendsday #nfl #sports #chiefs #raiders
Dallas Cowboys face ghosts of NFC past after Jerry Jones fortnight of despair
Perhaps the last place Jerry Jones would want his Dallas Cowboys returning from their bye is San Francisco.
The Cowboys sit at 3-3 but coming off their break things feel a little worse - as is the case for 'America's Team' it tends to be feast or famine.
#nfl #sports #dallas #cowboys #jerryjones #sanfrancisco
Why World Series games start at unusual times with MLB showpiece given unique first pitch
The MLB World Series is underway but the showpiece games have been scheduled for unusual times.
The New York Yankees and the Los Angles Dodgers are clashing in the championship match-up that everyone wanted to see.
#worldseries #mlb #yankees #dodgers #mlb #sports
They are going head-to-head as both look to replicate last year's champions, the Texas Rangers.
The series will be played over seven games and as fans get excited to watch the action, some may be confused by the strange start times...
Why are World Series games starting at unusual times?
Each game of the Dodgers vs Yankees World Series will start at eight minutes past the hour.
This is a unusual time to start a game considering most other sporting events start on the hour, or at quarter past, half past or quarter to the hour.
But in the USA, it is actually not too strange as it's been the case for a long time.
It is because in the US, broadcasters that start at 8pm are allowed to have a few minutes build-up, analysis and an advert before the game.
Also in that time, the national anthem is usually sung and the opening ceremonies or ceremonial first pitch take place.
I’m a four-time All-Star with 340 homers but blew fortune on 18 luxury cars and had to sell $2.4million mansion – I have no regrets
Jack Clark used to be one of the most feared right-handed sluggers in the National League.
Known as 'the Ripper', the four-time All-Star hit 340 home runs in an 18-year MLB career.
#mlb #sports #jackclark #baseball
Clark won the Silver Slugger Award in 1985 and 1987 while on the San Francisco Giants.
His reputation saw him walked 1,246 times by pitchers.
“One hell of a hitter, he puts the fear of God in you when he comes up to bat," said his St. Louis Cardinals manager Whitey Herzog.
"He’s a good guy to have on your club, in your clubhouse.”

How much did you get in the airdrop?
Within minutes of launching GRASS realizes a market cap of almost a quarter billion dollars! Remember, even though the airdrop is over, additional and ongoing income is still available by running the Grass DePIN app. Only a quarter of the supply is in circulation. #cent #sapphirecrypto
3speak crashing shows us a lot of things. I will talk more about this in November in my subscriber only content
What is the reason for the crash? Any statement from the 3speak team I can read up on?
no idea. I don’t pay that close of attention.
I have theories and I am reaching out to people I know. In the know.
I have been kind of off grid for the last month.
But not surprised
Server expensive? Did they release it now for people to run it?
nope still centralized
Eddiespino said it is database and server issues and also storage system issues.
He assured us that the issues had no effect on our existing videos and data.
I thought it would have been resolved by now because he also wrote that they are trying to fix it by the end of weekend (that is last weekend).
Hopefully, we will have 3speak back again before the end of this week.
Looking forward to it.
very frustrating
Did you know!! 💡
That your phone is spying on you?! 😱
Even actively listening to everything you say.. Yeah it's awful.
Terrible. Thankfully I de-Googled my phone.
that's awesome, good for you. I've been considering the same for a bit too long.. May I ask which phone model and which OS you're running? And for how long?
Pixel 6a and GrapheneOS (Graphene only works with Pixels AFAIK). It's been at least a year now. Works very smoothly.
I switched to Ubuntu for my computer in 2017, that also has worked really well, but there was more of a learning curve.
Appreciate the info! I definitely need to look further into this

Yeah 😭
So many services and devices are doing that today...
I'm a proud GrapheneOS and Linux user, so I get spied on much less than the average person.
Well done. I have not made a change because its conventient...

Yes, unfortunately that's the case. Only one claim site. Geo blocking sucks. What if you tried with VPN?
I was thinking about giving that a shot.
Cool, I hope you manage to beat the system! 🙂👌
