I wrote a blog post titled Hive: crossing the technology adoption chasm where I share some thoughts on an interview with Geoffrey Moore on the adoption of cutting edge technologies.
His advice is super valuable for anybody starting a tech company and relevant to a decentralized protocol like the Hive blockchain. He basically recommends us to focus on the best and most compelling use case first.
I believe the most compelling use case for HIVE is as a payment tool. Use Keychain + V4Vapp to pay at shops that accept Bitcoin. It just needs to be a bit more seamless for the user and get a little more promotion :)
Just as there R adults still trying 2figure-out what they want 2B when they grow up, it's the same w/ Hive blockchain & what we want it 2B. It's OK if it stays niche, but what will that niche B? Whatever it is, Hive has 2own it like a boss.
Yes. It has been and may always be a niche. Especially inside the ecosystem. Maybe someday more (d)apps may be used by people outside of Hive without even knowing.
I think I'd be OK with that. I can create value for others and receive value in return (value-for-value) and I can earn more $HIVE and/or $HBD or spend it in real life at any establishment that accepts Bitcoin over Lightning.
Feels good man. Feels that it will continue to be niche as it has not be on exchanges with the main coins as much. However if Hive found itself linked to something in the field of education at some point this could lead too many younger users. So I lean towards remaining niche with a possibility of more use.
The blockchain is super useful as a business backend. Two ideas come to mind:

Remittances. This continues to be a huge market in Latin American countries where people often leave to the United States and wire dollars back home using outdated remittance services like Western Union.
I wouldn't mind if HIVE stayed niche for the social aspect but I think it has huge potential as backend solution for business. I agree that education might be another industry.

Are electric cars less harmful to the environment as some may argue?
Well, for me they appear like that at the moment you turn the ignition and there are no gases emitted from the exhaust. But then, I think it goes beyond the smoke. For example, the production process such as making of car batteries could still contribute to environmental pollution.
I think batteries are the worst thing about electric cars/bikes. There seems to be no safe way to dispose them. Worse yet, it looks like they cant be recycled. Bad for the environment.
I will do a more detailed reading and research on this. But I still belive that the net effect is positive....even if you factor in Lithium-ion exploration and mining. However, I will get back to your with data and figures latr on.
Due 2 the weight of battery packs used by the EV, an EV weighs much more than an ICE car. This means the tires have 2support the extra weight. That means the tires will emit more particulate matter N2 D air than would tires from an ICE car.
I didnt even consider this aspect of harming the environment, but its still significant. EV companies wont want to admit that they have less than a perfect product.
Most EV owners are so focused on tailpipe emissions they aren't aware of other factors such as recycling useless batteries or what's needed 2get D EV moving. Companies also want EVs 2B like ICE cars when they should really B made as EVs.
You are right. Its not all about the gases from the exhaust. The entire life cycle should be considered. Gasoline vehicles also have their own contributions to pollution. I think we are supposed to make more conscious decisions and use the means of transport that does less harm to our environment.

How do you handle a gifted employee whose problem is tardiness?
This type of employee is valuable to the organization, but always comes late. As an employer, I would reach out to him with practical suggestions to cope such as putting on alarms at night, sleeping early, etc. If he has problems with alcohol or other issues, then he might need professional help.
Ofcourse if this employee brings most value to the organization, then I might as well consider if they are irreplaceable or not.
If tardiness is just a timing issue, 1 alternative is 2shift the start time L8R. If it is not a timing issue, shift departure time so that it is "8" hours after arrival time (whatever that is that day). If tardiness persists, dock him/her.
This is practical and I appreciate the suggestion to move one's personal timing a bit behind. Although some tardiness seem to stem from other behavioral issues like lack of good personal organization.

It's a cost-benefit analysis you need to make. Is the tardiness worth it when the benefits greatly outweigh it? Are the factors causing the tardiness within the employee's control? Even if a replacement is needed, is it worth the cost?
Exactly, some employees are super talented, have invested their life in the work, and sometimes difficult to replace their input. So yes a cost-benefit analysis is in order before taking a decision.
Another option is to have the super-talented employee compensate for the tardiness by working extra time for free now but to be rewarded later as a paid off-day. Think of it as being like "injury time" for a team in a football game.
Nice suggestion and that is cool. Human resource management is really an area to be careful about. If there is a team that is turning up results, management should try to keep them happy and productive.
--Also like in a football game, begin using "yellow cards" and "the red card." Once these R used, that's it. It should never reach this point, but let the super-talented employee know once the red card is issued, that means termination.

Well, for me they appear like that at the moment you turn the ignition and there are no gases emitted from the exhaust. But then, I think it goes beyond the smoke. For example, the production process such as making of car batteries could still contribute to environmental pollution.

I think batteries are the worst thing about electric cars/bikes. There seems to be no safe way to dispose them. Worse yet, it looks like they cant be recycled. Bad for the environment.
I will do a more detailed reading and research on this. But I still belive that the net effect is positive....even if you factor in Lithium-ion exploration and mining. However, I will get back to your with data and figures latr on.
Due 2 the weight of battery packs used by the EV, an EV weighs much more than an ICE car. This means the tires have 2support the extra weight. That means the tires will emit more particulate matter N2 D air than would tires from an ICE car.
I didnt even consider this aspect of harming the environment, but its still significant. EV companies wont want to admit that they have less than a perfect product.
Most EV owners are so focused on tailpipe emissions they aren't aware of other factors such as recycling useless batteries or what's needed 2get D EV moving. Companies also want EVs 2B like ICE cars when they should really B made as EVs.
You are right. Its not all about the gases from the exhaust. The entire life cycle should be considered. Gasoline vehicles also have their own contributions to pollution. I think we are supposed to make more conscious decisions and use the means of transport that does less harm to our environment.

Not sure how public you want to make that but I'd check it on a regular basis. It might help focus the community to try and improve the numbers.

How do you handle a gifted employee whose problem is tardiness?
This type of employee is valuable to the organization, but always comes late. As an employer, I would reach out to him with practical suggestions to cope such as putting on alarms at night, sleeping early, etc. If he has problems with alcohol or other issues, then he might need professional help.
Ofcourse if this employee brings most value to the organization, then I might as well consider if they are irreplaceable or not.

If tardiness is just a timing issue, 1 alternative is 2shift the start time L8R. If it is not a timing issue, shift departure time so that it is "8" hours after arrival time (whatever that is that day). If tardiness persists, dock him/her.
This is practical and I appreciate the suggestion to move one's personal timing a bit behind. Although some tardiness seem to stem from other behavioral issues like lack of good personal organization.
Sure an employee that struggles to be punctual might as well struggle in other things. So it might cost them the job if they dont improve
It's a cost-benefit analysis you need to make. Is the tardiness worth it when the benefits greatly outweigh it? Are the factors causing the tardiness within the employee's control? Even if a replacement is needed, is it worth the cost?
Exactly, some employees are super talented, have invested their life in the work, and sometimes difficult to replace their input. So yes a cost-benefit analysis is in order before taking a decision.
Another option is to have the super-talented employee compensate for the tardiness by working extra time for free now but to be rewarded later as a paid off-day. Think of it as being like "injury time" for a team in a football game.
Nice suggestion and that is cool. Human resource management is really an area to be careful about. If there is a team that is turning up results, management should try to keep them happy and productive.
--Also like in a football game, begin using "yellow cards" and "the red card." Once these R used, that's it. It should never reach this point, but let the super-talented employee know once the red card is issued, that means termination.
