For me, HBD helps me hedge against inflation that is rapidly ravishing the Nigerian economy. I trust the algo stablecoin and the hive blockchain overthe bank that has been very unreliable recently.
The value of HBD is that it gives people on Hive who do not have access to the USD to get a dollar denominated asset in their wallets to protect against their currency depreciating.

SteemitInc is a very controversial company that is basically owned by Just Sun now. It used to house the initial dev team of some Blockchain Tech, including the source code that was forked from STEEM to HIVE, but their COINS get forked out.

I think binance felt like it owed it to hive after it apparently inadvertently used custodial stake to enable steem consensus to be replaced with centralized sock puppets
When I saw the whole comment thread it seemed that A Quinn, and one other person, were saying HBD is a scam (harsh description IMO) because of the inflationary nature of hive as a crypto (saying that it's not a sustainable 20% Apr).
Then Acidyo turned up and explained that the APR could fluctuate voted by the witnesses to sustain the overall hive economy. The difference to something like Anchor is that the whole community would be informed in a post of the change.
Then if you didn't like the new APR it only takes
"Balance is subject to 3 days withdraw waiting period" so wait 3 days, and you've got your funds and can sell. HBD $ peg has fluctuated by $0.02 either way in the last year, where scam?😆

The point that is always missed is the idea of having the stablecoin backed. There ultimate goal is to build the value on HBD itself through utility.
The interest is only on HBD in savings...not on the total amount of free float in HBD.
Liquid HBD is not earning interest. So the 20% is actually lower against the entire float of HBD.
#HBD bond would be great. I want to see it happen.
