OF course to get a feel for the historical gold your field could open to other gold like British Sovereigns, Swedish 20 Kroner, $20 Liberty Double Eagle, etc. But we don't really know if they were minted from new sources or re-minted from older worn gold coins. We can only speculate unless those mints preserved their records properly.
