Twitter BTC tips are here

in LeoFinance3 years ago

You may have read in recent news that Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is stepping down as CEO of Twitter. This is sending ripples through the social media ecosystem. Changes on the platform are inevitable, except that the core of Twitter's infrastructure is still a part of the development process. So these changes may take time to process. What you may not have heard in recent news is that the Twitter platform has made a small change recently which signals closer progress to Web3 standards adoption. Users are now able to add their BTC address to Twitter to receive tips for posts.

This may, and probably will not create platform altering changes in the way Twitter is used - after all, users will need to utilize this feature en masse - but it is a step towards greater adoption of monetization of individual posts on social sites. Perhaps one day all likes will be backed with some form of payment, much like Publish0x users are accustomed. So how does a user set this up?

Setup is simple. Currently, tips is only available on iOS or Android; not web. Tipping is off by default and requires the user to become a Creator in settings. You must agree to the policy to become a Creator. Once this is accomplished, users can add their payment profiles. Current payment profiles include Bitcoin [address], Cash App, Venmo, Patreon, Strike, and more. Follow this link for more info. Once you are set up to receive tips a cash icon will show up at the upper right corner in your profile. This is a small change which opens the door for more options, such as monetization for ticketed spaces and super follows.

While we are on the topic of tipping - Please be sure to like, subscribe, and check out my other write-ups.
