With an interesting turn of events, AMC Theatres - popular movie theatre franchise - announces that they will accept Doge (DOGE) and Shina Inu (SHIB) coins as valid payment for movie tickets. Other crypto makes the list as well: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Litecoin (LTC) are confirmed to be accepted. CEO Adam Aron [@CEOAdam] tweeted the news today, revealing a March 19 and April 16 timeframe for implementation with their website and app respectively. This news is huge for the cryptoverse. Mainstream, national adoption of several alternative currencies opens the possibility for more companies to follow suit soon after.
There is a caveat - BitPay is the wallet of choice for implementation. Perhaps this is for USA regulatory adherence. While BitPay is not my favorite wallet to use for day to day transactions, there is at least the option to transfer in and out of the wallet from others. Be wary of ETH fees for Ethereum-based currencies in this wallet, as this is not always explicitly stated. To avoid this, use DOGE, BTC, BCH, or LTC instead. Either way, there is multiple options for consumers. See you at the next big movie premier.
