My Silver Collection 1 - Darth Vader!

in LeoFinance4 years ago

Almost at the same time as my start with cryptocurrencies in early 2013, my interest in precious metals like silver and gold also began. It was normal that in my quest for financial freedom I stumbled, not only with cryptocurrencies but also with precious metals.

From that moment I started, from time to time, to buy small amounts of silver mostly but also a little gold. In this series I am going to show some of the coins and bars that I have in my collection. And I start with one of my favorite coins.

The silver Darth Vader!

This coin is part of the series of coins dedicated to the "Star Wars" series which began its annual launch in 2016 by the island of Niue. This in specific is from the year 2018

Illustrated by George Luke's Knight of Star Wars - Darth Vader. The right-hand corner of the coin features the New Zealand Mint Mint mark. On the right side, the small rails also featured the coin's "1 oz 999 Fine Silver Ⓒ & ™ Lucasfilm Ltd".

Queen Elizabeth II is depicted in the obverse of the coin, with the inscription "ELIZABETH II NIUE TWO DOLLARS 2018".

I bought two of this coin, one for myself and one for my son who was 9 years old at the time (he is now 11). And it's not the only one he has. I find it very important to educate him in a certain way about the real value of "money" and those kinds of concepts early on. Something that I had to learn by myself when I was quite old, although it is never too late if the learning is good.

I hope you liked my silver Darth Vader and...

... see you in the next post!

Thanks for sharing the cool Silver

You are more than welcome! :)

Can't go wrong there.

Now more than ever!!!
Cheers!

So one side is Darth Vader and the other is Queen Elizabeth? That is pretty crazy. I wonder if they needed to do that to make it legal tender or something. I would have expected the Death Star or something like that on the other side.

From what I have been able to see and know, the coins made in Asutralia, New Zealand and Canada have the English Queen Elizabeth 2. I imagine it must be because as they were an English colony, they did so before and they respect the "historical memory" by doing so the same way now. Niue coins are made in New Zealand, by the way.

I agree 100% with you that a death star would look much better :)

I was also thinking it would be cool to have two lightsabers criss-crossed on the back like they were dueling or something like that. That would have been pretty sweet.

OMG Darth Vader brought the Queen to the Dark Side!

Maybe, just maybe ... Wasn´t the other way around? ;)
