There's always the pressure to prove that one is financially better especially when they're meeting the people they use to know a long time ago. This Fear is sociocultural, it taps into the very fiber of some human norms that financial growth is a necessity over time, irrespective of any conditioning or constraints. The pressure to establish financial advancement is the mother of fakery. In this video, I talk about the pressure to financially grow with time.

Thank you so much @josediccus for sharing soo lovely and intelligently. One of the reasons for this social trauma is beacaue of how the world views success as having a big job somewhere with a fat salary, having a beautiful skin(for ladies), being married with children, having luxury, schooling in Oxford or Havard and the like. But success really is the investment of one's personality, it's fulfilling purpose. This should be what you're up about and what your mindset should be before attending any reunion whether high school or College and soon enough, the desired things of life will be at your beck and call. Moreover, at your level that seems lower than what your folks have attained, you could even be living better and happier lives than they because you may never know the demons that they are fighting with themselves.
The manner or way the world actually views success is determinant on the norms we have set for ourselves in the human society.
We subconsciously put ourselves under pressure and this is why we have so many people who wants to be rich even at ages where they are supposed to be growing and working on themselves.
Just like I said in the video it is not compulsory for us to attach growth with time. We have different timelines and there are so many people who cannot attribute how far they can go in life with how old they are or the passage of time.
It's crazy, the mentality has to change.
Thanks for coming through.

Hearing this made me realise, such an approach of creating an impression of doing better or shying away at reunions is an esteem issue. Not until people are comftable in there own skin they begin to build above there status quo through what they reunion are ment to be. Build stronger bonds or build deeper connections for success with people they actually know. The people you knew are there to help you get buy when in need or help you solidify your success buy creating a stronger base for your success to build up to the next level

You're right. I've always shied away from reunions, however this isn't because I didn't believe I could make money in the future, but it's embedded in the mind of people that you must be financially better than you were. It was a prerequisite. Thanks for your comment.

And thats the challange breaking through the cultures of what people have created. when something was ment for something different. you are welcome and thank you for the post

It's difficult to break through that culture. It's like a norm In the human society. We're all expected to be up and doing with the passage of time, if not, we are deemed failures.

very true and crypto exposes this by showcasing the two emotions ththat control human activity here. in life is various axioms of choices, deemed as ratinal behaviour

It's much easier to be yourself and I never really could bring myself to look like someone different. At least I would think it would be very tiring and maintaining that facade would be quite tiring. Then again, I was never really the social type of person in real life.

Hahaha well sometimes we might not be the social types, it just happens that sometimes we need to be. You know, fitting in for posterity sake. Nevertheless, it's not a great life to actually lead. I feel that everyone should have the opportunity to be financially free at their own pace.

This is very common in the society, some would rather give false impression of themselves to appear well above their real stand than just being their usual self. In the end that false standard can't be maintained.

This actually makes us set unrealistic standards when it comes to money making in the human society. People want to live beyond their means at all cost and sometimes people like me avoid such meetings because I have to prove that I'm now financially better

Thanks for this video @josediccus. I was actually a victim of this. I shyed away whenever I was being invited for my almamatar reunion, because by then, I didn't have anything tangible to really write home about. Many times when I went through the social media platforms and saw my mates looking and doing so well, the more I went into my shell. I found myself under very serious pressure. One day, I listened to a Motivational Speaker who in his numerous speech said; "never look down on yourself, never feel that anyone is better off than you are, you are special in your own way, you are wonderfully made, always stay positive no matter the negativity you see, have a grateful heart and do things right" I also watched a movie called "Three Idiots" and learnt my now everyday "all is well" motto. Ever since then? I changed my mindset and it has worked for me. I even later realized that some of the people I was actually thinking where better off than me, were actually empty vessels.
I encourage everyone to shun unnecessary financial pressure and take things easy. Let's not live our lives to please anybody's standard and take the process of life with one step at a time.
That social pressure is most pronounced in Nigeria because for us success is defined by cars, houses, iphones and everything material you can accumulate. It gets worse because these days, we have a new generation of "prosperity preachers" who emphasize these things in the lavish lifestyle they live and in the messages they preach, thus increasing the hunger for getting these material things at any cost.
It is a sad reality, but if these mentality must go, we have to be all hands on deck to attack it from every angle. We must be able to aggressively say that the amount of money a man has in the bank does not define who he truly is. We must be able to say with every confidence that can be mustered under the sun " people should never be judged based on their material possessions"
Thanks for always being an Inspiration @josediccus
