The intent of the Nigerian government was aimed at controlling free speech and limiting the influence of the outside world on the opinion of people regarding government policies.
It's aim however wasn't intended to affect diverse commercial ventures on Twitter, especially brand influencing and business promotion, of which provides means of employment for diverse people who have found a way to monetize social media to their numerous advantages.
However, it seems this wouldn't hold because it is also affecting the money generated by network service providers.
Twitter's shut down would of course have enormous economic effect, but the Nigerian federal government didn't think it would be to this extent. I thought I went on to discuss the political aspect and why this will be crucial to Twitter being unbanned.

The decision to ban Twitter was absurd in all honesty. Who was the ban beneficial to if not the dirt they like to sweep under the rug
Probably in retaliation that Buhari's tweet was deleted and that it feels the world is influencing Nigerians and people seem to be using their free speech quite well I guess.

They hate to see free speech
Well...Twitter itself is a centralized entity and their bans never made any sense. Obviously I think having it available is better than not having it. I am truly looking forward to Project Blank or one of the decentralized alternatives coming into power.

It was actually the Nigerian government that banned twitter from it's space, probably because of how it tends to influence people's reactions towards it's policies. You're right, this is possible because its centralised.

Ah its the government banning. The lack of freedom sure is annoying and we need more decentralized entities as replacement.

Nigerian governments never care about the effects of things they do, they just do it.
Exactly, they just do it, the economic effect has however gone a long way.

And by the looks of it, it is still on the road to get worse.
Yes Nigeria government are now suffering it,I saw online when they mentioned the kind of money they are loosing in Twitter.
Had it they didn't ban it, they will still to be eating their money.
Now they are also blaming fx for the loose of naira value.
