Reputation score has always been a metric that interests me and I still tend to look at a user's reputation if am visiting or seeing a user for the first time.

It will be less justifying to measure one's reputation by the upvotes alone. The personal check like you mention is a good way to determine ones that are trustworthy and committed to Hive.

You don't show up everyday and exhibit consistent interaction with the chain if you careless about Hive.

That is true.

It is handy from a quick scan perspective. We can see those who are dedicated for the most part.

There are a number of people I come across that I never heard of and look and bam, they have a 75 or 77 rep score. That tells me they are strong contributors.
