For a newbie starting out on Hive, grow both HP & HBD or focus on HP

Recently I have onboarded a few friends onto Hive, one in particular I notice being keen on growing is @letsdora, she comes to me every now and then for answers to things she don't understands which is something I admire about her, one has got to be inquisitive to know certain things in life. It really doesn't hurt to say

I don't know please show me how

Basically @letsdora now finds herself in the blockchain and crypto crypto environment which is still new and overwhelming to her but the fact that she wants to learn and grow earns an admiration for her.

With just 7HP in her wallet and 30HP delegated to her, I asked myself what would be better for her towards growth, convert her HBD to Hive and Power up or put the HBD into savings for the juicy 20% APR?
It was a quick question to myself, and to her and her response was

Which one is better?

I opted she convert HBD to Hive for a Power Up because of the importance of growing one's stake on Hive, the benefits to growing one's HP (Hive Power) can't be overstated, with HP you get to be involved in governance on the chain amongst other benefit like voting, which earns one curation reward and also rewards authors from the reward pool.

With my decision explained to her, she trusted I have made the right decision for her, but I still ran questions to myself asking what if she grows both her HP and HBD simultaneously? With the recent increase of 20% APR on HBD it is difficult to resist the interest saving HBD earns.

What would you have done especially for someone trying to grow his or her stake on Hive? would you have done things differently? Please share your opinion, thanks.

well done man, we have to help people in order to maintain the retention rate

I really want her to grow, she is keen but timid of commenting lol, some say we are too serious around here...Lol

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Sometimes we need people in the game to put us through

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Absolutely we all learning here by the day.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We must never stop learning.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It's a tricky situation, sometimes scarcity makes people creative to their best of understanding. One thing is, she'll need the HP to interact with the chain. That comes first I guess.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You are so right am still scared but I know I will learn with time you don't give birth to a baby today and they start walking immediately 😀

Lol I can tell, just take a day at a time and over time you will see growth.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Keep growing and learning and staking

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Lol, I gave it a thought for seconds and decided she should power up with both options being beneficial, it was a tricky decision.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You made the right choice.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I think so as well thanks.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You are doing your best every day but as I said I will learn with time thank you so much for everything 🙏

Definitely, I wish I have people with experience when I started

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

HP is the greatest asset you can have on Hive. Good one mate. She would thank you in the future!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Am glad to have made the right choice for her it seems, looks like most on here would have done the same.
Thanks bro!

Powering up your Hive is the best thing. :')

I dread myself for not buying more Hive when it was only 60 cents back then. 🙈

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

60 cent is a range I doubt we are ever going to see again, I think Hive have now establish itself as a $0.90-$1.0 token which is sweet to be witnessing as we hope it moves towards +$2

It is always the money factor that makes us not to buy into these tokens. I think SPS for me is one I should be loading up on now that it is cheap but funding is a limitation.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

If Hive reaches $2, I will start doing crypto full time. Okay, not full-time but 80% of my time will go into it. ;)

It is always the money factor that makes us not to buy into these tokens.

I even had the money back then but I thought it wasn't cheap. Guess I was so wrong. Now I don't have spare funds to buy whenever the dips happen. :( That's why I am banking on my content to earn more Hive.

I am buying SPS whenever I can. It's going to be $1 in a few years for sure. Maybe sooner than I anticipated. That's around 7-8x returns :')

If Hive reaches $2, I will start doing crypto full time. Okay, not full-time but 80% of my time will go into it.

That will be double what am earning now which will most like have me making same decision, instead of running around chasing worthless money I'd rather channel more time and energy onto here where results are evident with consistent growth.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Well this a really hard decision because of the hbd 20%.obviously it is hard to resist but one it has to be one step after the other.so I will suggest that she should grow her hive power first because of the benefits attached to and if things work as planned she can proceed to hbd 20%.i think you have made the right choice for her by going for the HP.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I think so too, hopefully if 20% APR on HBD remains for long she can always start saving and enjoy the interest, even if it is reverted to 12% it is still great, the banks will never give us such interest on savings.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yeah exactly.it is very hard to see any bank to give you an interest at 12.more reason why hive is just the best thing anyone can think of financially now.

Absolutely, no place I'd rather be than on Hive now and in the future the possibilities here are just mouth watering, we are on about HBD now few months time we could be talking another opportunity on Hive.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

O!yes of course opportunities are coming.no doubt about that. I am just imagining what hive will be like in the next four to five years.everyone will be looking yummy yummy.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Lol am sure we will be growing fat around here, we just have to make sure to put our weight in check.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

As a new user, I believe the best choice for her is to have enough HP in other for her to gain more influence on the platform which is primary. The HBD and it's 20% APR should be secondary.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Lol am sure she will read this and be happy I have made the right decision for her. Growing HP is very important for long term growth.

Thank you

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yes
You said well. Growing HP is primary as it allows users more influence on the platform.

Thanks for sharing

You are most welcome

Since starting I have always gone with 50/50 in HP and HBD, once I had enough started placing into both in Hive Power Up and HBD Savings. From the outset possibly HP is better delegation to assist building Resource Credits, try to keep voting power around 80% per day not go too low.

Thanks Joan, appreciate this, am sure with consistency she will find her feet around here to establish herself.

A beer and pizza is always welcome.

Best way to learn is by doing for oneself. There are some great tutorials out that do assist new arrivals as well.

I think the ecosystem is easier to navigate now compared to my newer days. For me it was self-thought with no one to guide, I made mistakes on the chain back then and was corrected lol.

Looking back now makes me smile.

Learning as we go was what I did, it was something new to unravel however after first six months pondering whether to try or not, eventually decided it was worthwhile and took the plunge!

I spent 4 months trying to figure out how to post, I would write a post back then, have it titled but the post wouldn't publish when I click publish not knowing because I didn't add tags was the reason. I was very happy the day I figured it out and since then I've stuck around till date.

I agree with her increasing HP because you need enough RCs to use the blockchain. In a way, I think the first 100 HP should be enough and then you can start investing the HBD elsewhere.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's the way I see it as well, get some reasonable amount of HP to keep you going then shift a bit of focus towards HBD.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Increasing her hp is very important and 100 is definitely good

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Everyone is in a dilemma lately, it's hard to decide. Helping people is a great thing my friend. Well done, I appreciate you.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Lol it is good to have investment dilemma instead of not having any at all and staying broke.
It is the culture of Hive, we enjoy helping each other here.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's definitely true. Those who have money are in dilemma. :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Good dilemma 😀

Posted using LeoFinance Mobile

Hmmm. In mh opinion if she is a chaty person then building her hp is good she can encourage others by upvoting there posts. Engagement is the key indeed. And hbd is really a good idea if she is planning to stah here kong enough.

Recently i read a post sharing this i hope this would be helpful show her this post bro. HBD Savings is at 20%! ~ Why You Should Get In Now ~ The Power of Compound Interest

No doubt besides consistency engagement is key here on Hive. thanks for the link bro, will give it a read and share it as well.

Its been a while hope you are keeping well.
