I am not really that surprised that the CEOs and executives are out of touch. After all, they are loyal more to the share holders as a huge part of their bonus is in shares in the company. So short term profits to make the numbers look good is better in their opinion versus any employee's opinion.

That is true. But CEOs are suppose to have their finger on the pulse of what is going on to ensure those profits (bonuses).
And the remote work actually helps them out since it could reduce their real estate footprint.
