Is There Still Time to Farm Scroll’s $SCR?

in LeoFinance5 days ago

Just last week, Scroll announced a couple of key important dates: A snapshot date for the $SCR token would be taken on October 19th, 2024, and that claims for $SCR would be available by October 22nd, 2024:

Wait, they announced a snapshot…in advance?

Since the announcement of the “Scroll Sessions” made this past April, the team has made it pretty clear that they’ve made a lot of emphasis for not only early adopters but also for people who keep liquidity in Scroll’s DeFi protocols. In a point system called “Marks,” one can roughly accrue approximately 1 mark per day for every 0.1 $ETH held on the L2 — the key indicator being: Marks = Value x Action x Time. In order to check how many marks you have and where this puts you in the pack, thankfully there’s a Marks rank checker by Scrollstat where you can see where you stand:

Therefore, if you’re already pretty low in the rankings and if you’re willing to move an ungodly amount of capital over to Scroll for the next week or so, I’d say that it’s probably not worth joining this late in the game. There are however things that you can do that might help level the playing field — Badges — which we’ll talk about next.

Badges

Scroll has a bunch of badges which you can mint via their Canvas program — more than a 100 different badges across dozens of different protocols, whether they be NFTs, swapping, connecting socials, or providing LPs. I’m unsure of how much weight badges will have on your allocation, but what is clear is that it’s far less costly to rank up, albeit if you have the time. I only have 45 badges and that puts me in the top 1%:

Out of the 2.5 million users, according to the Canvas homepage, only 730k Canvases have been minted with a total of 4.4 million badges, meaning that on average each Canvas user has about 4 badges minted, leaving to no surprise how easy it is to get in the top 5 percent, say if you 30–40 minted. Which of the 100s of badges should you mint? We’ll get into that next.

But first, if you’re wanting to put in the time and haven’t minted your Scroll Canvas yet, mint your for 50% off by using code ‘NEFG4.’

What are the easiest badges to get? Luckily I’ve figured that out for you

Conclusion

As I mentioned before, I only have 45 badges and that put me in the top 1%. With increasing effort to keep minting more badges, in my opinion, the higher hanging fruit just wasn’t worth the effort for me in the time we have left.

Have you already been grinding away at getting as many badges as you can get? How many have you been able to accrue so far? Are there any easy badges that I left out of my list? If so, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
