I can't get off my head this thought that hating AI in this early stage is like hating a newborn ...

Just my 2c

2/ Also, AI so far is used to kill people, surveillance, and sell people stuff.

Those are the major use cases by governments and corporations.

So understandable why some might be skeptical.

sure, but there is also this

I think people are forgetting that AI started in the 1950s ie seventy years ago... it is more ChatGPT that is the culprit not AI.

lol at “culprit”

AI is powerful and it can become an incredible tool for content creation, but people are using it in the dumbest way possible

I don’t think anyone hates Ai, or should hate AI, I think what they have problems with is how and where it is used

In nearly all negative cases AI is being used for centralization, either to bring it about or to cement it in place. Can a decentralized AI exist?

decentralized Ai can totally exist and is the ideal. We are just so early now that cehtralized AI has to be at the forefront while we get our bearing. Just what I think

That's the right question ...

1/ Well to be fair, they have been indoctrinated by #hollywood into the doom and gloom.

Not that there isnt reason to have some caution but the #skynet scenario is deeply ingrained in people.

I admit the SkyNet scenario is a consideration 4 me, but the way USG has been operating since 2001 hasn't helped matters. Concerning++ 4 me is the Matrix scenario-- not so much people being used as batteries but events leading to that.

Yep. All feeding in. There is reason for concern but the question is whether the doomsday scenario is plausible (by the AI, by humans we know it is).
