Delegating to someone works immediately. But after undelegating, it takes probably a week to have your Hive Power back. Why is it so? Is there any thought behind it?

Yes. It promotes delegating deliberately. It also makes upvoting fraud less possible by rotating a delegation through several accounts to milk the vote system.

if your account Gets hacked through some sort of phishing that person won't be able to steal your hive since it's protected by *takes weeks to power down, undelegate ".
