50 Word Story Contest – Guest Judge and YouTuber: The Furious Chicken - Win a Hive Punk!

I want to thank you all, I could not believe how many amazing entries that we received. Choosing a winner was much more difficult than I imagined and this was an extremely close competition, but in the end I chose this one:

I sighed, I prayed to heaven, I relaxed my shoulders, I waited a moment, then I opened the door very slowly, shoes in hand, I avoided making as little noise as possible, suddenly the light came on, someone cleared his throat loudly, I thought: has my time to die come?

With only having fifty words at our disposal, being able to imply something without actually spelling it out, is in my opinion, the most important thing you can do for a fifty word story, because it forces the reader to fill in all the missing pieces and the story becomes so much bigger. Even though there were some issues due to English not being @sovebrito’s first language, I chose her entry, because she managed to imply something that completely changed the nature of her story and both of the judges enjoyed theorizing about what was actually happening.

For this next round we have a special guest judge: @quickdrawchev, also known as the Furious Chicken and he will judge each story on YouTube and the winner will receive a Hive Punk. Also, be sure to follow @quickdrawchev so you can watch him critique your stories, I seriously can't wait for that!

How to Win

The goal should be to to write the biggest story that you can in under 50 words, this usually takes many edits to find ways to add or imply more information to the story. So try to convey as much information as you can.

@quickdrawchev has informed me that he likes funny stories.

Below is a fifty word that I wrote, where I tried to imply as much information as I could. Although, I might have made this story too vague, because Sarah had trouble understanding this one, so let me know if I went too far.

New House

“No, daddy’s not gonna live here… Mommy dorced him and he wasn’t even allowed home when we packed our stuff.” Mary sighed; pretending to pour tea for two.

Startled, Mary’s mother dropped a box: “Honey!... Who are you talking to?!”

“Elizabeth!... She used to live here, until she got small-pops.”
