Yep, once in four years, there's the world championship, and once in four years, there are the continental ones (both Americas share one). So in 2 years, the WC will take place, and in another 4 years, another EURO, Copa America and so will occur.

Is one of them FIFA. I know that was big for some time and it might have been renamed.
Yep, FIFA stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association. I guess you can understand French enough to decipher it ;)
So it is the FIFA World Cup, and then the UEFA Euro Championship (Union of European Football Associations).
LOL lots of them. So many leagues, championships and matches.
Really amazing.
It's a world-wide sport :) The US sports have never made it abroad. Hardly anybody plays the american football, baseball made it to Japan, basketball is a thing in many countries - it's by far the most successfull.
Canadian ice hockey conquered the northern half of Europe plus Italy, curling is quite a thing in several countries too.
Yeah they tried the WAFL in Europe which I believe was supported by the NFL. It failed miserably.
Of course, it was effectively a minor league program since it was not top players.
