You can research guilds on SL website's under the guilds tab. The info there tells you if they have open spaces, what they require and whether or not they're full.

Thanks I went true a few last night and sent a request to join but no response yet. I will keep at it. Are you part of a guild?
I am but not an active part. I think I joined one that approached me but my alt I joined by choosing one that was automatic. But it sounds like you want to find an active community. Good luck with it.

Yes, the one I was part of became inactive and it was normal, I find it otherwise so I had to leave and look for one that means business.
Another place to look is the guild recruitment channel in the SL discord.
