Things have been a touch on the blustery side as of late, which in part explains my absence, that and I couldn't get a post I wrote a few days ago to upload and had to bolt to town for three days of fun and frolicking.

Since then though, what a basket of chaos it has been! Windstorms, atmospheric rivers, a blizzard, and the dam overflowed! A hell in a holiday handbasket sort of scenario. On top of that a tree took out my poor parent's cabin, so they had more than a bit of excitement, my uncle got taken to the hospital for open heart surgery, and my bro and I are curious what sort of catastrophe is going to swing down upon our fam next.

But, aside from all that, everything is awesome! I mean, I am alive and living, the boy got his leave approved and is on his way home tomorrow in his new whip, and the last week of this month I get to spend a week celebrating with ALL my kids. How could I not be ecstatic?

Plus, there are always scenes of mirth that amuse yours truly. This morning, as I let the corg out for her morning constitutional, I marveled at how still the lake was, as yesterday it resembled an Alaska coastal inlet during a gale storm. As I took in the calm I peered down at the stoop at the bottom of my log stairs. There was a little pile of deer excrement to greet me. Seriously Becky? They have thousands of acres and they defecate on my stoop?

Deer and goats man, deer and goats.

Another bonus is there is still no snow, which is also a not good thing as the snow helps offset fire season, but for right now it's been a bit helpful as we probably have a gazillion trees to buck off the roads over the next couple days. So, after I eat I get to slip on the ol shotgun and hiking boots, whistle for the corg and meander off on a bit of a ramble looking for downed trees. I am sure the Ents of our forest are in mourning, but if I see one I'll give it a hug of sympathy. They probably won't stomp me, for I am hobbit sized.

But for now, now I am going to go snack on something. Yesterday, while the world groaned I whipped up a caramel pecan topped cheesecake. That sounds delightful and delicious.

And as most of the time, all of the images in this post were taken on the author's marked safe from getting smacked with debris iPhone.

Yes, that wind was crazy! I took my chances with the electricity and baked cookies. The power did NOT go out. Whew! But other people were not as fortunate. This evening (Thursday) the wind is picking up again after a day of soggy snowfall. What odd weather!

I love you single handedly willed the power to stay on with the cookie baking 🤣, we had another windstorm/blizzard here last night so I'm off on yet another downed tree patrol!
