There are a proportionally high number of computer programmers in Ukraine

I have a memory from university. While this doesn't speak about the number of programmers in Ukraine, it speaks about the quality at the top back then (about 20 years ago).

I was part of a team that participated to a contest in Bucharest from our university. There were teams from several countries, including two from Ukraine if I recall well. One of their teams was really good. I remember they finished either first or second.
