A very interesting utility... however, I wonder why someone wouldn't just use a free calendar app that's directly on their phone or desktop instead.

They could. I imagine the idea would be to keep it all within Leo and people wouldn't have to leave. And it could be integrated into what's here and be an additional benefit.
