as a gamer, i disagree.
i want to play a game because it's fun, not because i can maybe earn a few pennies. this is the sentiment of every actual gamer.
I guess everyone is different though some get entertained with games or videos. Ok maybe you 100% right on this one
ask anyone that plays games because they like games. they'll tell you the same thing.

gamers will never tell you gaming is a waste of time. we enjoy the fun of it. I understand there are people that play these "play 2 earn games" to earn money which is fine... But the whole point of gaming is to entertain. Not to pay you. That's an entirely new thing with Web3.
