I believe that a community gains value when its members get involved and as Whitters says start giving ideas in order to improve everything and of course their leaders consider them and start improving everything thanks to those ideas.

That's true. It's surprising the amount of good ideas members have and are ready to share. If you involve your members and make them feel they're important to the growth of the project, they won't abandon you.
