I think that each and every one of you has thought about it at least once in your life. I on the other hand have thought about it multiple times and the main reason is that in friendly conversations somebody will always bring that up.
Money is something that is here for thousands of years and it will be for another thousand. Since we were born and start understanding a thing or two, money became part of our lives. On our birthdays there was always someone who gave us money as a gift, at school we used money to buy lunch if we wanted to and ofc we always had spare money to use in our everyday lives.
Sooner or later money started to play a bigger role in our lives as we had to work in order to earn some for the purpose of basically living. We use money to buy food, clothes, a house, a car, a pc, for entertainment etc etc
So now let's head over to the main question. For me, the answer is quite simple and it "depends on the case". For example, when we are talking about happiness we need to define what makes us happy and when we define that, we, later on, need to define if that thing we chose actually makes us truly happy.
That is actually quite hard to achieve because you need to know yourself a lot, something the majority of us ignore and that leads to many issues. But that's a topic for another time.
If your "happiness" is to obtain more and more let's say cars then most likely something is wrong with you and you need to rethink the essence of your happiness. On the other hand, if you are a father and it's your child's birthday, his happiness is your happiness so most likely you will try to buy him a present that he/she will like.
That doesn't mean that you have to spend a fortune but at least one you will need to pay. Even a 5$-10$ doll or action figure can make that child extremely happy and in return yourself.
Now let's give a better example. For that, we gonna take into account that money isn't happiness and the usual kind of thing that these people say that everyday things like our health, our family, the sky, the sun everything can make us happy. So far so good right?
Now, what if one of those family members that you love so much gets sick? And to make things worst, maybe his treatment costs a lot of money or you need to go to another country and pay a shit ton of money for it.
We can argue whether the health system should be free for all and in an ideal world that would be a thing but guess what. We don't live in an ideal world and my guess is that we never gonna live in one. Thus, you will face a dilemma, trying to do everything you can, meaning finds the money or let the person you love without doing anything.
I bet that at this moment your happiness is to see that person cured but in a way only money can make that possible. In other words, sometimes money is the way that will lead to happiness depending on the case of course.

It's not a definitory ingredient for a happy life, but it can add up to the happiness level of someone who lets say has good finances.

it depends as to what will make your life happy at that current moment. For example, if you could cure let's say your mother from a disease that can lead to a happy life!, or if you can cure your children!

Yesterday there was a nice quote on my calendar:
"Some people are so poor, all they have is money".

i like these types of quotes but in most cases, they can't take into account everything! So i both agree and disagree :P

I think some people can never be happy. Money can make lives a lot more pleasant for people that would like to retire and enjoy the time they have left without the worry of money.

Happiness is a very abstract concept as it greatly varies among individuals, but it is certainly not something you can buy.
