A teenager from British Columbia has been hospitalized with H5N1 bird flu-a human case contracted from the latest outbreak. This is Canada's second case of H5N1, after a case seen when a traveler returned from China in 2014. Authorities suspect that he became infected through "direct exposure" to wild birds, but confirmation is pending in tests. To date, 440 dairy cattle herds across 15 states have surfaced carrying the virus.
