This is a woman who has almost no interest in technology and certainly none involving blockchain, yet here she is inquiring about crypto. And no just any old token but Dogecoin?? I knew something was up, because she'd sooner ask if Aliens have finally landed before cryptocurrency. My response was similar to a parent hearing a young child using the word "orgasm" in a sentence and wondering where in the hell did she hear that from. Kinda reminds me of reading about shoeshine boys giving stock tips during the great depression.
I don't know about you, but this tells me that slivers of crypto-knowledge is beginning to seep into the brain stems of the masses. I'm hearing more and more chatter about it almost everywhere I go. It's gotta be driven by the news of bitcoin setting an ATH. So this stuff tends to percolate down to the muggles who may have heard a snatch of conversation about it, in-between Pinterest sessions.
Now I know what you're thinkng: "What a great opportunity to get her on Hive or LeoFinance," right? WRONG! I'm already the unpaid family tech support, and my head would explode if I had to lead her through the blockchain gang. So no, there won't be any "mom" blogger accounts, which would have ended up being written by me anyway. God knows I barely have time to get my own posts out a few times a week. But I do like what this says about crypto adoption by the masses.
The crypto touch
I call this "The Musk Effect." If that guy tweets about tactical underpants, the price goes up. Plus I think my mom has the hots for him anyway. Now if he really wanted to do something worthwhile, I can think of a couple of our favorite tokens that he can start tweeting about... But I really think this increased awareness is the first signal that cryptocurrency is here to stay. It will no longer be hidden away by portly guys in a dank basement, clutching a ham and cheese sandwich while squinting at tiny screens. Crypto will be held by Musk-lovin mamas, shopping the hell out of Pinterest!
Thank You So Much!

I remember when I first talk to my dad about cryptocurrency. His immediate response was "that's illegal". Oh who little they know. I agree with you on the free tech support thing. It sucks sometimes doesn't it! You've gotta respect them for trying though right?

Indeed. I remember back in 2009/2010 trying to get people interested in Bitcoin as there was a free faucet that gave out 5 Bitcoin for free. Can you imagine? Like your situation, they thought it was some kind of counterfeit internet thing. However, I quickly realized that crypto represented the future and snagged my free BTC.

Nice! Lucky you! I knew about crypto but didn't really get into it until 2017. Still kicking myself for that one!

Seems to be working! As awareness spreads, it'll be like a crypto-snowball rolling downhill. :)

I've been talking with my parents over crypto for years. I don't know how much they understand, but they do listen 😁

I almost fell out of my chair, as asking about crypto alone was so unlike her, but she specifically asked about "this Dogecoin thing." Musk is magic!
