This has turned out to be quite the year. There's a lot to reflect on and be grateful for. I guess that would be a post for another time. Seasons greetings everyone, it has been a while.
I was in conversation with an old friend yesterday. We were quite close back at school but we've kind of drifted apart since she got married and went into more intellectual pursuits.
She's someone I always admired for being extremely intelligent, but quite a terrible communicator. I mean, we got along quite well as friends, but conveying her message across to an audience in a manner that is well received and understood has been quite a challenge for her.
It was thus surprising when she told me about her desire to share her beliefs on Faith and marriage to a wider audience. She started a YouTube channel, but a completely faceless one run by AI. I checked it out and the message does seem to be passed across quite decently.
Yet, I haven't quite hidden my disdain for AI enveloping the media space. While it may have Its uses, I believe there's certainly a lot to be cautious about. One is the gradual erosion of human emotions and input into our social feed.
Yet when my friend brings an example like this I see how AI could potentially help those who aren't so great communicators pass their message across. The only thing I wonder is if the use of AI is the solution. Everyone probably has a message to pass across from their live experiences and beliefs.
So is AI a great leveller or a means to an identity crisis. I remain very skeptical and while I believe in a message that holds substance, I am quite weary of the messager.
