We have a net long position on Hive which we purchased with our own money and have never asked for anything from the DHF.
We have reduced our position from our original allocation in light of market volatility risk, but it is only to build a hedging/larger position, of which, we are still overwhelmingly net long.
Advertising vendors do not tend to work with crypto platforms. They often need a certain level of KYC compliance which we simply cannot comply with. Also, none of our platforms are at a scale which would interest the most popular/best ad vendors.
Trying to monetize when you have less than 10k users on any given platform yields quite little return, especially given the demographic matters too. Most ad vendors bid the highest on users from western countries, but the largest part of Hive traffic are from LATAM countries.
I think he's only asking from a place of genuinety and nothing malicious. You've put it rightly, and just like I told him, it's quite a complicated issue as well.
As for the DHF, I'm sure if liketu shoots for funding, it'll get it.
