I have heard the Taiwan quake was a DEW... but I don't buy that at all. I think a lot more of the plantet's "problems" are directly the result of the sun. We took one of the biggest CMEs in the past 20 years followed by some more flares and enhanced solar winds. This is charged energy that not only immediately causes heating, but puts stresses on plate tectonics. Almost all of the 7+ earthquakes happen following this kind of solar activity.
