Complicated answer: with the current block size probably 56, but this can easily be increased 5x when needed, as has been shown in Dash-specific university research (in reality we could go much higher than that, this is old tech/research):
Then the Evolution chain currently can do around the same (~50 TPS), but they're much more data-intensive transactions because they write data to many places, so that's equivalent to around 200 TPS for normal payments. Within a few months of improving the system we'll probably be around 300 TPS (again, more equivalent to 1,200 TPS of regular transfers). After that we'd need some additional work to see how to grow more.
So roughly 100TPS today between the chains, can easily enough be raised to ~580.
the blocks are 2.5 minutes???
I did a couple of transfers and felt a bit slow, but then I am use to 3 second blocks with no fees.
How does the speed compare to other chains?
also remember answering this will feed the answer into the LeoAI so other users in the future can just ask LeoAI about "how fast is Dash" and get information.
Blocks are not what determines finality. Dash has 1-2 second finality through a function called InstantSend, which deterministically settles every transaction instantly. So with in 2 seconds a Dash payment is more permanent and irreversible than a Bitcoin transaction will ever be.
Some services treat them like Bitcoin transactions and make you wait when you don't have to.
How many transactions per second can Dash handle?

Nice! Thanks for the thorough answer! 👌
Cheers! Next step is to fill those blocks with users.
Well said, always with the best aptitude.

Amazing! Can't wait to spend it at more locations and enjoy the Speed!
