AI fostering Language learning

I can remember those days when I used to be watching conferences on TV and observing every participant putting on earphones. Maybe I thought it was for the fun of the moment but no, this was meant to interpret language. I mostly saw this during football and government conferences, I must admit it's always cool. Affording that was and is still an expensive gadget in the market. Are you a lover of languages? Then we are in the same click. How often I wish I could speak ALL the possible languages. This will be a milestone achievement? Or do I even need to speak when I have an interpreter.

The cost of paying an interpreter is expensive, meaning if I had to speak up to five languages, we are talking of five of them. Wow! Way too expensive. The future of human interpreters is gradually diminishing. AI is really becoming a threat. Those who went to school to study languages never saw this coming. Here comes another disruption and it indeed is making waves already. I have a friend who also loves languages. Basics actually, he prefers Spanish while I have been clinging to French. I started it actually when I greeting him in French and he said, Dani, we are an English speaking country, don't blow my head off. I think his own comeback was to be speaking basic Spanish anytime we are on call or chats.

Do I need an interpreter? Yes, is it human? No, am I using Google language translator? No, I have this new cool buddy chat bot in the name of AI. It is a game changer, querying Google search and AI has always produced huge margin differences, AI seems to understand more of what you need and how you need it. Delving deeper, let me first show a snapshot of a query I made with Chat GPT.

This is me being curious again this morning and guess what? The response was amazing.

The list doesn't end here.

We are talking about twenty major languages for NOW and I am carrying this right in my pocket. How will I have coped with twenty human interpreters? AI is closing language bridges already and this span to promote a fair and flexible economy. Maybe you are not seeing it in this angle too, but AI translators will open doors for foreign investors to trust new grounds and strike fair bargains. Consider the letter below.

Look at it's immediate interpretation.

AI is even ready to make adjustments.

Interpreting and learning put together

As I speak, I am getting better and better in speaking French and also Spanish. All I need is to devote a little portion of my time daily or weekly for this if I want to. Or I could just leave the interpretation all the time for this buddy. The choice is yours too but the fact remains, AI gives a more fair and unbiased translation as compared to humans. Assuming an argument tempo grew, I don't think a human interpreter will be ready to risk much by telling the real facts. Adding to that, you can write out your text just as I did and have it translated as it fits in case you wanted to summit a foreign proposal and you will be doing this at the comfort of your home. Many of us may not understand the presented opportunity, they are so many areas to talk of here; peace coordination and the rest. Maybe I should revisit how this will boost global economy.

Have you ever tried buying from a foreigner? How does the transaction always end? With no both ends understanding, you will always feel the rigidity, unsatisfied buying and no feedback or references. Let's put this on a global table, without language, there can't be a global and flexible table for business and transactions. Being an entrepreneur, this is the area that really picks my attention. As it stands, I can transact with a Frenchman as long as he has access to the Internet. I don't know how the 'audio to text' AI industry is working but I know if not already out it will soon. I have some digging to do here, maybe an article for another day.

Attracting investors is key when trying to grow countries from underdeveloped or developed countries to advanced ones. I feel governments in several part of the world should be looking into this, it is really worth the investment. Easy access and understanding of languages will bring deals and negotiations and this will revamp an entire economy. We are yet to utilize the AI opportunity at hand. It also help to reveal several hidden talents, valuable cultures, ideas and research especially in the health sector.

To conclude, let me add, AI and language learning is something that must be well appreciated and utilized in the process. In a globally connected world, there is a need to thrive to understanding one another more irrespective of language. Overdependence on a single language should be curbed in my views as language itself plays a part to every country and its citizens. This is where AI steps in, promoting 'a diversified language model' for foreigners to do business with respect to both party languages. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out in the next decade.

Technology is evolving so fast it fascinates me. Over a decade ago, we were using human interpreters overseas because we didn't know the language. Nowadays, anyone can do that with just a few taps on the phone for translation. As you said, AI can help improve transactions amongst international businesses.

Yes friend, entrepreneurs will really leverage this opportunity. Thanks for your contributions friend
