Watch out for scams through Discord.

It is presumed that many people have subscribed to the Discord server. The number of scams that exploited this is increasing, and I also recently received such a scam message.

These scams get more and more sophisticated. If a personal message comes to a stranger, it is worth questioning.

It is the amount of BTC, ironically, that I am convinced that this message is definitively a scam.

If it was 0.003 BTC, I might have believed.

These scammers are getting more and more sophisticated.

However I have an uncle who lives in Africa who has $5million frozen in a bank account. Could you provide your BTC address and a small transfer so that he can... lol !!! only joking.

On a serious note, over the last year both myself and my parents have fallen for scammers.

My parents had a phone call from what appeared to be their telecomms company. It eventually installed some malware on their PC - but luckily their bank picked it up within 5 minutes and they were able to get back the thousand or so GBP that had been taken from their account unknowingly.

I had fallen for a scam website. It all looked very legit, and the prices were "just under" RRP rates. So i purchased a coffee machine. The lack of confirmation email, and upon further inspection of the site made me think it was a scam and i contact my bank within 48 hours. After 6 months I have eventually got my £80 back again.

The morale - please always beware. A deal that is too good to be true normally is. But scammers are now more devious and cunning and deals that look legitimate may now also be scams.

Take care, and look out!
