Funny as I also enjoy numbers and stats now but not the school type ones. The strange thing was I could always get the answers but never show the working out as it was all in the head. Economics are important and understanding the mathematics now could mean earning a fortune or missing out.
I believe it's the way we were taught, many of those who taught those subjects didn't know how valuable they were.

I was pretty good at guesstimating back in the day and still do this now, when it comes to percentages and the like.
Obviously, you do sound like one, lol.
I recall sitting for an exam called JAMB, which includes for topics to pass to get into the university.
I hated chemistry in which when I read the first three questions or less with their options, all the options were the answer.
I recall I only held the answer sheet and shaded whatever alphabet came to mind. Guess what? I passed higher grade than those I read.
