Mastering the use of artificial intelligence yields an increase of up to 40% in salary

Having your salary adjusted well above inflation is a universal desire, but a privilege for few. And there is a group that tends to benefit from increases of up to 40%, according to a study by the University of Oxford, in England, with the Center for Social Data Science at the University of Copenhagen, in Denmark.

They are professionals specialized in technological areas and with mastery of skills related to Artificial Intelligence (AI). The study is international, but it applies to the Brazilian reality, including the Espírito Santo market.

Machine learning is the leading skill, with a potential salary increase of 40%, followed by mastery of TensorFlow — an open source library that can be used for machine learning in various tasks —, with 38%; by deep learning, with 27%; and natural language processing (19%).

AI specialist and professor at Faesa, Howard Cruz Roatti explains that this knowledge is useful for bringing innovation and digital transformation to companies.

Machine learning and its applicability contributes, he says, to optimizing processes, increasing efficiency and creating new products. While the Google TensorFlow service domain allows developers to build, train, and deploy neural network models to solve complex problems.

Deep learning uses artificial neural networks “capable of learning complex patterns from large volumes of data”. Finally, Natural Language Processing allows machines to understand, process and generate human language.

Professionals with such skills are sought after especially when combined with data science and algorithms, says the study.

Professionals who want to work with AI need to seek knowledge in data analysis, business management, products and even sales, according to the selection manager for the tech & digital talent division at Gi Group Holding, Henrique Almeida dos Santos. “It is important to understand how a business works and, from that, map how AI can add more value.”

Fabiano Correia Lima, 50, from São Paulo, lived in Greater Vitória for many years, but decided to return to his hometown to study. Graduated in marketing, he specialized in information technology, information security, software engineering, artificial intelligence, ESG and corporate sustainability, in addition to having a master's degree in big data and business intelligence.

He is currently a specialist in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for a large company in São Paulo. He detailed that, with the combination of technical knowledge and behavioral skills, he achieved a 57% salary increase, comparing before and after specializing in AI. “It’s a composition that defines the salary.” In addition, he also has his own company, with clients in Brazil and abroad.

A total of 16 million Brazilian professionals may have to change careers by 2030, due to the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digitalization, according to a study by the McKinsey Global Institute, according to information from the newspaper O Globo.
