But here's the question... Do you prefer to watch films in 2D or 3D?

Most 3D movies are really 2D movies modified for 3D viewing, and it shows. A handful of movies, such as Avatar were made as 3D movies, and they take advantage of that detail. It's similar to how few directors know how to use IMAX.
You're right and that's why cinemas charge more for 3D films.
I prefer 2D just to be safe. 3D has more scary experience.
