Week 11 Results | 14W-17L-06P | -0.347 Units Loss

This is a weekly overview of my personal sports betting/trading results on teams from the Belgian Jupiler League documenting my journey toward long-term profit with some insights on my overall approach.

The Season resumed this weekend and betting continues to be quite the challenge as I made a small overall loss which I have mixed feelings on. It was one of those weeks where the bet I went biggest on ended up as a 83% of the stake loss. It was the under 1H and under in Genk which I added on late as the odds went up which always is ticky. At the same time it made sense as the coach of the away side clearly was going more defensive with an eye to take a point and this also quickly showed in the odds early on in the match. However an early red card followed by a quick goal screwed things up and I should have just fully hedged during the minute I had time for it but hesitated and only took a small cover bet. If anything, it's always had to make the right decisions in a short timeframe and lately I mainly hedge in or out of position cost-averaging instead of taking a bigger bet all at once. At the same time, there were other situations this week where a win felt kind of flattering. Actually both pre-game bets that I had were that way. Beerschot again switched to a more offensive style while I anticipated them to again go full defense. This was pretty clear early on and I fully hedged the bet. Mechelen also played a poor 1st half but still managed to make the 1-0 before halftime for a welcome winner.

So overall I'm quite frustrated to get out with a loss but at the same time also glad that it wasn't a bigger loss. The season is still long and I just keep dong what I have been doing for years which always over time resulted in profit. I'm quite sure that periods will come again where just everything I touch wins but patience is needed and most of all I need to avoid really slipping away.

So 2 Pre-game bets this week which both easily could have lost but gave a 1.5W-0L-0.5P results so I can't complain whatsoever. These things also even out over time and there are plenty of cases where it was the opposite which is the nature of betting.

Season 2024-2025 Personal Betting Chart

So the entire grind up toward being in the green again was undone by a similar grind down which puts me at -2.45 units on the season. I'm still extremely cautious on my stakes as I don't really get the feeling that I'm easily crushing the market at the moment and most bets are narrow edges that I'm chasing which naturally comes with much more variance.
