I'll always support initiatives that allows scientific research without the influence of States or big, established corporations. We need some, but we also need financial independance sometimes. So, seeing that this particular initiative was very successful is quite interesting, and a good omen for the next to come!
Yet, your article leaves me with the impression that you are expecting the industry to make more and more use of the blockchain. I totally agree with the need of a vision change (away from a purely speculative purpose of the cryptoassets), and that it will have a lot of benefits for everyone involved.
But, don't you fear that the regular private sector (companies), will somehow corrupt the initial intent of independance from banks and states that was conveyed with the birth of cryptocurrencies ? I read a lot of people wanting the cryptocurrencies to become "mainstream" currencies, but is it really a good thing ? A bit like the internet that was intended to share knowledge, and is now a kind of big mall full of advertisement ?
(It's a real interrogation, without judgment. I'm a baby in the crypto world, and clearly don't get the whole picture here)
And thank you for this very interesting in depth article!
I wonder how you manage to research, and write so much articles on a daily basis, considering the quality of the content :)
