New Initiative for New Users

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I had an idea pop into the old noggin. 100% power up posts with beneficiaries as a way to support new people.

Support

One of the things I’m always trying to figure out is how to help support other people in what ways I can. One of the things I think is great is to be able to spread the love in different ways and one of those ways that’s great here on hive is to be able to offer some help with getting some hive power accumulated on ones account. There are great services like Hive Stake Based Income but the result of that isn’t immediate so I wanted to come up with another way to help support people that I think are doing a good job. This one has a more immediate impact for them I think, so let’s see how it goes!

Today the people I’m trying to lend some support to are @yems and @nevashia from my Splinterlands guild. They are both good players in Splinterlands but they are also ones who engage in the chat there and do their part to help donate to the guild. They have even posted on hive (not many Splinterlands players post on hive lol) and gotten into some good comments so I think that’s great! We could all use some additional hive power so they are both 15% beneficiary on this post here, with it being a 100% hive power payout so that it goes right into their hive power holdings. It might not add up to a significant amount but it adds up slowly! Hopefully I have this figured out right and it will give them hive power as payout, if anyone has more knowledge on that let me know! Want to make sure I’m not messing it up lol.

Thoughts?

What do you folks in the Leo community think? Is this going to be something I should try to do monthly or do you think it’s a waste of time? I like coming up with any ideas as a way to just drive the conversation if I could!

I don’t want to give out free liquid hive to people necessarily. It’s the easiest for sure but I want to try to help them long term and having it go in as staked hive power rewards is a better option. Powering down is certainly an option but it takes a hell of a lot longer to power down than it does to spend liquid hive. Hoping that this will incentivize people to keep the beneficiary as hive power!

Like any good idea.. it doesn’t work that way lol. Won’t let me 100% power up and it won’t let me schedule this post ahead of time? Very odd lol. This one might be dead in the water!

Gone fishing without any bait it seems! Lol I was still able to do 50/50 hive power and liquid. Not what I wanted! I'll try it with an alt account to see if I can get it right.

I'm not the only one who sees how much you help the new guys dude, just giving you a hard time.

Hahah I know. I should have tested it a little before. I don’t know if I see anyone doing 100% power up posts much anymore but never with beneficiaries.

Mine are always set to 100% power up. The times I named a beneficiary, they were paid in liquid. I never considered power beneficiary as an option but I think you might be into something.

Yeah I'm gonna try it with another account to see what happens! The funny thing was that I couldn't do that by posting on the leo finance front end for some reason. It was telling me I couldn’t do 100% power up because it wasn’t powering up Steem lol. Then when I tried to do it adding beneficiary’s I had to put them in alphabetical order? Wtf is that lmao. I’ll get it right one time!

@dandays I saw you the other day commenting on a post where a guy was going way too hard with some really inspiring energy on the subject for me even try to keep up even after the smoke settled.... Glad to run into you while you were at the friendly fishing spot here.

@cmplxty im biased but Hive Staked Income Shares is one of the more fair and healthy ways to invest into other people, yourself and, depending on perspective and approach, a healthy way to the utilize the reward pool as a way to encourage people to post.

Awesome thank you I appreciate it!

I appreciate all the support, every little bit counts! I wish I got into this way earlier but cryptocurrency wasn't on my radar lol

Yeah I hear you man. I heard about the platform back when it was Steem and even then I didn’t get into it for about 8 months after I first learned of it. Sometimes we take our time to get up to speed with things but the important thing is that you are here now! It only gets better from here, we are the first wave so to speak, in America for crypto.

I think the whole stigma of "criminals use crypto to buy things on the dark web" thing turned me off when I was a teenager hearing about bitcoin but literally after researching blockchain technology the beginning of this year, I can't believe I didn't know about it. I used to watch Silicon Valley on HBO and the whole idea of a decentralized internet interested me. Then I found out about crypto and web 3.0.

Hey I got a question regarding delegating hive power for interest. Would that be more or less profitable in your opinion then liking posts myself? I am getting near 250 hp I could delegate out if it would give me a better return.

Thank you for this! It was completely unexpected for me. It will certainly make a big difference for me.

I like the idea. Many curators used to upvote the content of new users base on criteria that promote the quality of the publication. This method showed limits considering the huge numbers of publications daily. An additional proposal isn't bad. I think your idea can benefit the content creators that deserve more on Hive.

Thanks for stopping by! I agree, the big curation projects are doing awesome stuff and a lot more prominent than it was when I started on Steem a long time ago but I know peoples posts are hit or miss. I think supporting the overall user instead of one or two posts here and there is a good idea. This helps them see that there are people on here that want to see lots of other people succeed. I think, or hope at least, that motivates them to stick around and see what else we’ve got here!

You are right. I join your point of view.

Interesting idea, I want yo think about it more. Other have used delegations to reward new people, but this one is also a good idea.

I like your ad for Presearch:

I will look into this.

Delegation is good for people you have no idea about. This alternate beneficiary idea has merit but only for people you interact with in my opinion. I’ll only do it again for people that I follow and think will keep the extra hive to help them get further here instead of just cash it out.

You should check out Presearch! I did a post on it a while back for what I do to earn tokens on it. It’s a great alternative to the mainstream platforms and you earn a little crypto along the way!

This is a good point:

Delegation is good for people you have no idea about.

This also makes good sense:

This alternate beneficiary idea has merit but only for people you interact with in my opinion. I’ll only do it again for people that I follow and think will keep the extra hive to help them get further here instead of just cash it out.

I think this is a good way to think about it. Delegation for the unknown new accounts and HivePower gifts for new people to encourage them to keep stacking their Hive/Leo power.
