What I’m afraid of is the theory that this is not only incompetence but an actual intent to bring it down using MMT as a scape goat and then bringing in a shiney nee authoritarian cashless society where they have even more control over the people and strip them of more freedoms

Sort:

Im not trying to start an argument, but rather this is a great topic to discuss. But I always ask people the same question to see where their head is at.

Why does everything have to do with someone trying to gain authoritarian power over another group of people? Its true for societies that are ruled based on maintaining power. But in the modern world, governments remain in power by giving to society and the reason why thats true today, is that the majority of people have a voice. Look at Egypt, Hong Kong and the 1,000s of protest that takes place in the US everyday (except for today of course, cause were all being secretly desensitized to authoritarianism by way of coronavirus!).

Lol no harm, that’s why I am here to have interesting discussions and different views!

My personal view is that it was a survival tactic to live in packs to have a central authority/Alfa male and we too that and still run with it today!

We like to think we so complex but in fact we still have a lot those animal traits governing our subconscious.

While those places you mention have “more” freedom it’s all relative! I’ve been to Egypt it’s not as free as you might think, a lot of tenseness and social governing as well as a military presence

Even in a he developed world it’s the same the reigns are just a little looser but if anything this whole situation has shown that socialist, communist or capitalist they all authoritarian

It’s all the same thing painted with different coat of paint, it’s neofeudilism now run by “elected” aristocrats
