Clicking On The Wrong DeFi Website: Things To watch Out As A Newbie

in LeoFinancelast year

Hey guys, welcome to my blog, blogging is becoming more exciting, yesterday I was super excited, because I felt my post is becoming more seen. It gives this sense of motivation, I am grateful for the upvotes and the comment. Yesterday I wrote a post about my introduction to DeFi and my experience, it felt nice writing about it, but then, we learn everyday and I have learnt new things about DeFi. I fell in love with DeFi because, I did have to use any of documents to open it, unlike binance asking me for some valid ID through KYC before I can send or receive crypto. That was really disappointing, but at least I learnt what KYC meant, which meant Know You Customer. With DeFi, all I did was get a metamask wallet, find a person I gave cash to and he transferred my desired coin to me, all without having to use my document.

I did my first swap few days ago, on the binance chain, felt nice, especially when my friend explained the difference in gas fees and helped me avoid making mistake of paying high gas fees for something I was just test running. But I was more surprised when I heard that there is something called a phishing site, a site that looks like a real site but isn’t with the intentions to hack into your wallet and steal your money. This is quite sad, and shows just how people have to more careful and stay really focused in making sure they check the URL of the site their interacting with or interacting on. Check every letters and every domain extension to make sure you are on the right site. Uniswap exchange logo is https://uniswap.org/ and if you click on the Launch App section it will direct you to https://app.uniswap.org/#/swap. These are the legit sites. But I saw a fake site which is unswap.site. Do not click on the site for any reason, from the image I shared you can see that the site is being advertised through google ads making the site appear at the top, any newbie that comes on google to search for uni swap, the first thing they would see is the fake advertised site. As a newbie, you have to be really careful on sites you click, dont be too much in a hurry to click on any site. Since you can’t be really sure which site is legit, try using their social media profile to be sure you are on the right track. Social media has verifications, so watch out for the verifications to know you are on the right profile, then you can get the real site to interact with. I didn’t make mistake because someone stopped me from making the mistake, I hope you can learn from this.

Thanks once again for reading my blog and I hope you have learnt from it.
