Maybe having/not having a profile picture is a good way to tell who's a real new user and who is a bot? What do you think?

Sort:

I think that having or not having a profile picture does not guarantee that the user is real, there are many photos on the internet and they can also be created with AI, what guarantees the authenticity of a user is the quality interaction they have on the platform.🚨

That's true but not having a profile pic is often a first warning sign. Those running the bots might not wanna go through the hassle to add those pics

not bulletproof, but a start ..

indeed, a good to start to filter out the obvious

Not entirely. It seems there are some frontends that limit access to the profile pic to only that specific frontend, so if it's uploaded via one of those, it will not display on other frontends

Yeah, I've noticed that and battled with it myself. It's pretty frustrating actually. When you update something on one front, it can mess up the other completely! 😅

Completely! I think it's either peakd or ecency that are the best place to update from, but I don't remember which one of them right now 😅

😅👍 I always forget which is best for that! Next time I'm gonna write it down 😀

Same! Need to remember that fairly important detail 😆

Not 100% accurate, but that's a factor I use too. Also, how generic their content is. If every thing they post is a quote/meme, I'll just ignore them. If they don't reply to any comment, that's a red flag too.

Yeah, good points! Now that you mentioned it, rarely "new users" have replied back to me when welcoming them which is weird so assuming that they have probably been bots

Or people who aren't invested in the platform yet. The people I invited for some reason weren't bots, (I hope,) but they weren't interested in the platform, just the incentive I gave them to get them join.

Yeah, unfortunately, many are not staying but that's ok, once Inleo gets more hype, they might come and they are still your referrals then! 🙂

It’s quite easy to generate an AI profile pic, through GROK or other AI engines

Indeed, and people probably have a lot of pics laying around anyways. I guess the question is, do someone running these bots wanna go through the trouble of adding profile pics. I think at least it's a good start to add a pic if a new users don't wanna be identified as a bot.

I agreed! 👍

Starting from that at least...
