My dad worked in a factory running auto parts through a milling machine, so while he was trained in the machine, he was probably working class for sure. I remember growing up we didn't have the latest and greatest things or name brands, but we had everything we needed. I think that is one of the key reasons that people hold onto a blue collar or working class background as a badge of honor. It indicates a more humble and simplistic lifestyle. It doesn't necessarily mean more or less money or more or less love, but perhaps more appreciation for what it takes to earn something.

Exactly! This isn't exclusive to the "traditional working class" is my point here. All it takes is the experience of working hard for something, even if it isn't that much.
