The Growth Potential Of Splinterlands
For those of you who have been a part of Splinterlands for a while you got yourself a very nice surprise with the price jumps as of late. Even for those that recently got in has also yielded some rather amazing results.
At the moment EVERYTHING is sold out!
Packs - Sold out till Chaos Packs (I believe October? Chaos packs)
Land - Sold out
Dice - Sold out (next Mini edition coming soon)
Potions - Not sold out it's one of the ways to earn some bonus cards right now
This has sent prices of packs through the roof. A single DICE pack is currently selling for almost $30 each! But that's not really all that crazy. On WAX these game packs often sell for $60+ so there's still a chance for these packs to move up in price.
Recent Milestones
300,000 accounts

100,000 spellbooks purchased

I like the idea of the spell books as it's pretty much a requirement when you start playing the game. This small commitment is actually a VERY smart marketing tactic. By having a user do a small transaction to start it means they are now vested into the game. When you pay $10 for something you care MUCH more about it then if you got it for free. This micro transaction flips that switch in your brain and also for the most part gets you buying and investing more into the game.
Putting It Into Perspective
Axie Infinity currently has a player base of 350,000. Take note this is active users and not accounts created. In reality at least from the numbers I'm getting from Splinterlands it's 1/3 of that which means there is still room for growth.
The other thing to factor in is it costs about $1,000 to get started in Axie which greatly diminishes the amount of people that would play the game compared to splinterlands $10. But in reality you would need to fork up a decent amount to start really playing good in the game. I would say another $300 would set you up decently when new packs roll out.
The other thing to mention is just last week Splinterlands noted 50,000 active users playing. Axie currently has 110,000 currently actively playing. This still shows up the possible growth the platform can still have 2x 3x values in order to hit Axie levels so it's not all that far off.
The other point is Splinterlands is unique and there are MANY new advancements coming to the game including land which is going to be a huge update with huge demand from current players.
The Future Of Splinterlands
*This is not investment advice and for entertainment purposes only
I personally think Splinterlands is due for a massive explosion in growth over the next few months. There's a good line up of new things coming and the 365 day airdrop just enforces the demand a bit more for people to hang around.
SPS (Splintershards) will soon be earned in other ways including an expansion to guilds another feature which builds a strong community and high investing. As these extra rewards continue to be earned the demand will increase again.
Further putting that into perspective SPS staked will be required for some features of the game including discounts which is a huge plus!
When lands release in Q4 there's also going to be an all new demand for all of the things that land produces. I can't even wrap my head around that just yet and how it will all work but I expect if you own land you'll be locking in some seriously passive income!
Final Thoughts
I've noticed a bit of a trend as of the last few days as the left over packs are skyrocketing in price while rental values have gone down a bit or at least a higher competition in rental cards. I'm curious to see when Splinterlands team pulls the new rental numbers if we are seeing more rentals happening which means that more cards are being put up for rent giving players more options. Overall I'm very bullish still on Splinterlands over the next 6 months as there's lots of features, hype and development that we know of during this time frame.

Can't argue with the vision being laid out by the team. They just keep adding layers to help both players and investors.
The #Play2Earn model is really starting to get some traction.
@splinterlands could really end up being a trailblazer. I would like to see it flip Axie Infinity. It is possible for the reasons you mentioned.

Indeed play to earn may be one of the strongest attractions for Newbies into crypto!

It's possible when you look at player numbers they are not all that far away from Axie. The price entry for splinterlands is a lot lower but you still need to invest something in order to actually level up in the game which might put it closer to that Axie Infinity levels.
You are right about the commitment. The difference is the entry price can be earned on Hive. Anyone who gets really active will be able to get $10 in a few weeks.
Most cannot get $1,000 or more.

There’s another thing that I think factors in heavily and that’s the community and ecosystem it’s built on.
That everyone’s name in game transfers to every other front end and it’s also the user’s wallet address (highly overlooked in my opinion) make it feel like you’re at home as soon as you get here.
That is true. There are relationships forged that cannot be overstated.
Watching others post about their results is helping to bind people together.

The rental market was insane just before the season ended...Blown away at what some of these cards were fetching lol
Be nice to see a bump again, but I'm still trying to figure out the best way to maximize the DEC i'm earning passively.
It's hard to keep up with you kinda want to sell some because it's such a high value but you also want it for the SPS airdrop decisions decorous!
I do both. I sell it for hive, then pair it with hive in the tribaldex liquidity pool. X2 airdrop points balances it out and I strengthened two positions. 😊
Facts! lol
Add to all this that Splinterlands is genuinely fun, challenging and addictive to play. Unlike Axie that is by all reports a bit repetitive and boring.
Agreed I enjoy it plus it's fast little battles not some drawn out thing. I think it's reported you have to play axie 2-3 hours a day in order to max out rewards. For splinterlands most days I spend about 20 and it's kind of passive as well. Plus mobile!
I totally agree. 50,000 active users?! Wow there is some serious room for growth!
I also beleive that 100K spellbook is just a begining (curated by r1s2g3)

For sure! 100k is a huge milestone but we have been seeing the entire platform continue to pick up in terms of people playing, buying and writing about it. Still massive room for growth and I know when land releases along with some other features that's going to light a fire under a lot of people to get involved. Not only is the game fun to play and all the cool features (which I believe has more to it than Axie and some of these other games) but now you can actually earn a decent amount.
And these are still just the first crypto playing base. We are a long way from mainstream yet. Over the next few years if the game gains some publicity it could bit millions of players vey fast.
Look how much attention it is getting on crypto media now as it grows and all the new players who create content about it. It wouldn't take much to be picked up by a mainstream channel.

Yep, It's super cool and tons of room for growth still both on the crypto adoption end and also the current active player base that enjoys these types of games.
Amazing to see hoe far it’s come from Steem monster days.
I think I will turn my Steem monster cards into NFTs.
