loved Gorbachev's idea, which was now a world of peace. And he called it a common European home that would stretch from Rotterdam on the North Sea all the way across Eurasia to Vladivostok. And he saw that as a peaceful zone and an integrated economic zone. And I love that vision and I love it till today. But what I can tell you in short is the U.S. deep state, that means the CIA, the national security apparatus, the Pentagon, the White House. I know these organizations, not every one of them, intimately and so forth. But I watched all of this quite close up. They didn't say, oh, we have had the hand of peace extended. Let us cooperate. They really said, oh, we defeated our foe. Now we are the only power in the world. We can do what we want. And this initiated an era called neoconservatism. It really was started in the last year of the Bush senior White House in 1992.
