When I was 9 years old, I could name at least 40 countries with their capitals and I knew all the important Rivers in Africa. Nowadays, there are idiots caught on Tiktok that don't even know the capital of neighbouring countries.

Sort:

Mongolian capital?

Ulan Bator?

Winner
and that of liechtenstein? do not look on the internet

I don't know the capital of Mongolia or Liechtenstein but here's the thing, I know both of them. I think I can name 90% of countries and their continents without the internet.

You are very right. I now have the impression that they are less strict with the teaching of children. But maybe it's just that I'm getting old.

In the US, I am not sure most know the difference between a country and a state (or province).

I always find it amusing and slightly irritating Maybe I'm reading too much into it, idk.

Reminds me when Mark Dice was asking people if they knew Mount Rushmore was in Mexico or something. Seems some lost some things along the way.

lol what do they teach kids at school?

Same here. Don't they teach geography any more in schools?

When I was 40 (abt ~30 yr ago) I could name every State in USA ( all 50), with their capitals accordingly. I doubt I can reach 45 states and 30 capitals today.

Even that in itself is impressive because you don't live in USA. There are people that live in USA that don't even know that their state has a capital

This is typical nowadays... Many don't even know the addresses of the places where they live. :*)
